Idgie, You all ready sound like your a 12 Stepper! You've got a lot of sense of recovery in you...now just get your butt to a meeting! I bet your one of those who will get it quickly and be able help a lot of others on your sober journey. Heck, you are already helping me...and I'm sure others everytime you post.

I actually am making a plan for myself. My target to start sobreity is 15 May. Next week I have my husband's court date for DUI, our wedding anniversary and mini-holiday.
In a funny kind of way I can't wait to get on with it even though I'm terrified.
So I'm mapping out my plan for each day of the week, and going to figure out what meetings I can get to and have it all organised so I won't have any excuses left.
Aren't you in California VWGirl? I lived in San Diego for many years and LOVED it. Sure do miss those fish tacos. And the cheap tequila hahaha.

Hopefully between now and your scheduled date to quit nothing serious will happen...but you just don't know, life is unpredictable. What happened for me is that I learned to live life and life's terms and cope with the good, bad and the ugly without having to pick up a drink...no matter what. I do live in SoCal...yes, it is very nice here, I'm in a small beach community but it is densely packed with people. That I don't care for...and it's super expensive to live here. But I am grateful to be here...I forget how beautiful it is and how amazing it is just to walk out the door and be able to walk straight down to the beach.

I know picking a date isn't always the way to go but I need to prepare myself mentally for this and have my plan established.
my husband asked if I would drive him back to work if he loses his license next week (the courthouse is round the corner from my work see). I told him if he was going straight to work the 350 is best bus to catch, otherwise if he's going home he should catch the 310.
I am determined to not let his DUI become my problem or shelter him from the consequences of it - I also told him I would expect him to treat me the same.
