Iam f***ed. I have chronic lower back problems too I was on Oxys, Fetynal, roxycodone before 6this ben going to the clinic for 6 months. Afraid to get off it but I have to.
Hi Earth,
I am no expert in the subject, but I think that if you have been on meth for 6 months, you will need to do a slow taper to get away from it.
This site has alot of information on the subject that may help you find a way to do it safely. (A ton of information)
Click here: Opiate Detox http://www.heroin-detox.com/Forum/f....asp?FORUM_ID=6
(I hope I did the link right.) and go to methadone.
Keep posting, I know there are lots of people here, (and in the heroin category) that can offer you good advice. Hang in there

Well, I felt the same way you do in my three years on MMT (Methadone Maintenance Therapy). I started isolating, gaining weight, hybernating and I felt horrible. I had a spontaneous femur break. They told me it wasn't because of the methadone, but I know it was...I think it actually got into the marrow of my bones. Yes, I did stop using illegal drugs, but I was a slave to methadone. It only made me think I was recovering, but I would have died had I stayed on it...I was depressed all the time, I hated myself even more than when I was doing scripts and opiates. I was a slave to the clinic mindset, couldn't travel, couldn't go on vacation without worrying about how much I had, guest dosing arrangements etc. The schedule 2 narcotic that methadone is was even stronger than the hydro's I had just come off of...I just didn't know I was high because I felt "even" all the time.
Six months? I don't think you will have a horrible detox, but you do need medical advise. I found it necessary to go into a hospital setting, but then I was on it for three years. Ask your clinic counselor what to do, tell him or her you want to see the doctor about detoxing. Get another opinion from outside. Whatever you do, don't go to an advocate or they will talk you out of it. They will tell you that you will relapse. (You don't have to!). However, I'm not a doctor, or a nurse and this is a strong "medication" and has many side effects. It will be easier than you think though, if you get that mindset.
Take care. I wish you well.

margo - i had heard and always thought that methdone affects bones, then when reading an advocate site, thought i remembered reading something that it didn't. wow! that's really something about the spontaneous break you had in your femur - makes me wonder too.
