I am celebrating by going to school confrences...lol

Janet, I asked you in another post but maybe you didnt see it. Did you feel anything by taking the lamactil? My son hasnt complained about any side effects whatsoever. It is like taking an asprin to him...Do you feel normal too?

Wendy I am on the first week of the Lamactil, so far I haven't noticed any difference, but that's quite normal anytime you start A/D's...i'm weaning off of one drug (trileptal) and building up my Lamactil...for 2 weeks it's 50 mg a day...i will be on 200mg at five weeks....then from what the pamphlet says, depending on whether or not that dosage works, i may end up taking a max of 400mg...so, we are doing a wait and see...I have an appt with the dr in the fifth week.

according to the pamphlet it is used to treat epilepsy (seizures) and Bipolar 1...i am Bipolar 2....i'm going to have to research the difference between 1 and 2
Vinny DJ and Jean, HUGS back:)

Wendy, i just checked the difference between Bipolar 1 and 2

Bipolar I. Considered the classic form of the illness, bipolar I causes recurrent episodes of mania and depression. The depression may last for a short time or for months. You may then go back to feeling normal for a time, or you may go right into a manic episode.

Bipolar II. If you have bipolar II, you will experience depression just as in bipolar I. However, the episodes of mania are less severe (hypomania). Bipolar II is more common in women. People with bipolar II have more depressive than hypomanic episodes.

Hypomanic episodes can occur in people who have mood disorders. Hypomanic episodes are less severe than manic episodes, although a hypomanic episode can still interfere with your ability to function properly.

Hypomania may be diagnosed if:

A distinct period of elevated or irritable mood occurs in which the mood is clearly different from a regular nondepressed mood.
Three or more of the following symptoms last for a significant period of time:
Inflated self-esteem or unrealistic feelings of importance
Decreased need for sleep (feels rested after only a few hours of sleep)
Talkativeness
Racing thoughts or flight of ideas
Being easily distracted
An increase in goal-directed activity (work or personal)
Irresponsible behaviors that may have serious consequences, such as going on shopping sprees, engaging in increased sexual activity, or making foolish business investments
The mood or behavior change is noticeable to others.
The episode is not severe enough to cause impairment in social or job functioning and does not require hospitalization.
The symptoms are not due to substance abuse
Great! Your example shines. Congratulations.
