Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership: we are self supporting thru our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
I've seen that before...
Imagine that. You must have gone to one of them there meetings I heard about.
Bastards turned me into an alcoholic!
Best thing that's ever happened to me, too!
I liked the coffee but our meetings are so small now everyone just goes home....might have to look into that

That's AA in a nutshell! So glad that is read at every meeting. At the meetings here they also read parts of Chapter 3 and Chapter 5. It's amazing but most every time I hear this stuff read (or if I read it), I get a little something new out of the readings.
I attend two different groups. In Home Group, we read "How It Works," "The Twelve Traditions," and, "the Promises," in addition to THAT paragraph being the opening remarks.
hi you guys are sooo lucky to have meetings to go to. I wish I had the opportunity. The only meetings near me is 2 hours away and at night so if I went I would have to stay overnight at an hotel and come back the next day which wouldn't be such a problem but There is only one meeting there twice a week and it's all men because I checked into it. I didn't want to go to a strange town and sit in with all strange men telling my story. So in the meantime I am doing what I can with the AA program to the best of my ability.I appreciate the input I get from everyone here not only the advice but just from reading the posts and stories of some of you guys. Thanks
