Hi
Please help i am still confuse you guys says he is on a low dose but to us it feels very high as it is 6 teaspoons which is 5ml per teaspoons. Is 30mg and 30ml the same and if so is he then still on a low dose. I am just glad it works because we feel its to much already.

If it's working, stop making yourself crazy over all this stuff..lol
mg is different than ml
Far as I know?
milligrams vs millileters

Everyone is different, and I think subsequently not everyone's dose will be the same. I am sure Wes' doctor is giving him what he needs, at least I would hope.
Now, as far as I know, mg and ml are different. Usually ml is used to measure liquid and mg is used to measure pills or powder, so to speak. Now, he may have a dose of 30ml but there is some sort of mg per ml. Like there can be 5mg/ml or 5mg per ml. so 30 x 5 is 150mg. That sounds like a lot, but I am just using those numbers as an example. Or they might be giving him 1mg/ml. That would be a total of 30mg. I hope I didn't make this more confusing. Some people only talk about the mg they are taking even if it is in liquid form. There is still a certain amount of med or mg in every ml.
Geesh, I really hope I didn't make this worse for you. I live in the U.S. and I am not even 100% positive on what I am saying! Someone jump in if I am wrong! I think the main thing to focus on is his sobriety and whether or not the dose is holding him, right? Good luck, sounds like you guys are doing pretty good lately...Jax

Milligrams is a weight...milliliters is a liquid measure. There are 1000 milligrams in 1 gram and for conversion's sake there are 28 grams to an ounce. There are 1000 millileters in 1 liter (soda comes in 1 liter bottles for reference). Converting gram to liters cannot be done with precision because liquids have different weights.
Priscilla, is he dealing with his own doctors? He is the one that needs to get these questions answered...why are you still in the driver's seat?

Hi Jax 33
LOL no you not confusing me more I am just permantly confused LOL in afrikaans you call it "Deurmekaar". I am a real busybody cant sit still for a minute and the mind is always working overtime.
and NO MOMNMORE I am not in the driver seat. Wesley is living his own life.
I was just trying to have a conversation and find out how different the US is from SOuth Africa.
Jax we mesuare everything solid in mg and everything liquid in ml. Thats why I was wondering if Methadone is liquid why is the US measuring it in mg.
What started all this is that COn was talking about 1mg and we where trying to figure out how much it is because if it was the same as 1ml she would be take 1 drop, which is very little.
And that my dear friends is what spark this conversation. I was just trying to figure out how u guys do it over half way of the world.
luv ye all

M&M is exactly right- -
With water - its comes out to 10 mgs = 1 ml
1 ml of other substances will weigh more or less , depending upon thier densities- A milliliter of gasoline -for example, weighs less, a milliliter of mercury weighs more- - way more* * *
I tried to answer this same thing for con a few weeks ago so I asked the nurses at my klinic-
This is the print out they gave me - below>
Milligram is a unit of mass. milliliter is a unit of volume . You cant directly convert the two . If you know the substance .you can say for example"1 ml of water has a mass of 1 gram (1000 mgs) or 1 ml of lead has a mass of about 11 grams- I know its very confusing!! I am no chemist has for sure* * *
I guess if you really wanted to you could ask the pharmacist , he would be better qualified to to help with this - -its sounds like he is on a good dose though- -but again thier are different types of methadone, methadose, diskettes (which are dry wafers that dissolve in hot water)- etc... Melicroft inc, pretty much took over all the methadone business from Lilly ,inc -when the patant ran out- -I guess if you want to scan this net you,ll find an answer sooner or later- -
sorry Priscilla- -best we could do- -its a tough one- -

Hi there Pricilla,
We hashed out this same topic not long ago too. If I am correct, ml (milileter) is for measuring liquid volumn and mg (milligram) is for solid by weight. Everyone who answered had it right and yet Oddly enough we just looked at our bottles and they all say mg!! Like on mine, it says 105mg. Now you've really got ME curious. We'll have to get an answer on this one.....
At our clinic they have a computer that measures each dose in to a small bottle and then they add at least one ounce of water to it. I would guess just so we don't have straight methadone. That way if someone wanted to they could sell it on the street. The more diluted it is,the person would know it wasnt as strong. When it comes out of the bottle it is a sort of dark pink color, hence the name of "cherry syrup". It gets lighter in color any time water is added and it tastes different as well.
Hi everyone!!! Have a great weekend!!!

Hi every one
this is very interesting to me
wez methadone comes in a bottle of 500ml of see through
liquid
he has ask the pharmist how it works and he said
That methadone comes in powder form here and they
convert it into liquid form
and that 1ml has 2mg in so his 30ml is 60mg that he takes
so i think my curosity is now satisfied
