i have been on opiates for a while, which eventualy led to herion. every single day by time i woke up i was in withdrawel no matter what time of day or night i had previosly used. and withdrawels always lasted more than 5 days for me when i tried to get clean.this time i took suboxone for the first and second day but on the second day about 12 hours after taking the suboxone i also used. i ended up having pneumonia which gave me pleuisy{inflamation of the lungs} which made it hurt all over my shoulder very bad everytime i would move or breathe.after using on that second day i woke up on my third day in alot of pain i didnt take any sub because i knew i would eventually go to the hospital and potentialy be put on pain killers. i was never prescribed any pain killers but by time i got home to take the sub i still wasnt in withdrawel. today i woke up and still havnt been in withdrawel. how is this posiible?? i took subs for two days and on my second day i used herion. but now 36 hours after using i still have not shown any signs or symptoms of withdrawel and this is coming from someone who would undergo withdrawel everyday. normally if i would take sub for a few days and then use herion i would imidietly go back into withdrawel. is it possible that most withdrawel may just be in our heads because we expect it?
It is a bit psychalogical i think. I used alot! and every time i tried to come clean at home i would turkey really bad. But the times when i was arrested the withdraw was not as bad because i knew there was no possible way to get gear while locked up in the police station. Its weird but very true! Hope it helps answer youre question.
I personally think that alot of the symptoms we feel are caused by what we expect.I always had talks with myself..you know..I'll quit tomorrow, this will be my last fix! But as soon as you start feeling bad you will do whatever is necessary, good or bad, to get that little piece of crap that will immediately make it all better again. Until the next time... When I went to jail while using I was a little uncomfortable..sweating, trouble staying asleep..but all in all it wasnt that bad. And boy was I hungry!! I ate my meals and anyone elses who didnt want theirs.
I also know, for me, that being in jail gives you time to get your head right because you cant get dope whenever you want it,unlike being outside.
I stayed clean almost 5 years after I got out of jail. While I was there I went to every AA/NA meeting I could and I read alot of literature about addiction and continued my recovery after I got out as well.
Then I got lazy in my program and didnt listen to what people were telling me. I knew if I did what they said I'd stay clean and I wanted to get high, so I did, and went back out for about 7 mos. That was my undoing. I became the person I had dispised and hated. At the time there didnt seem to be any quick fixes. I almost died behind it and now I have been clean, with the help of methadone, for many years.

HI CARRIE! It is not in your head, I wish it was. Suboxone has a HALF-LIFE of 72-HOURS! I have been on everything OXY than SUBOXONE for 1.5 Years. The Withdrawals don't actually hit you bad until the 3rd day. They say the Naloxen in the Suboxone makes using OPIATES a waste unless you use mass amount. Suboxone sticks to the same receptors that Heroin goes to or other opiates go to and does not disappear for a few days. I am on Heroin Now (ugh) and the H in Seattle is so good right now you do some in the evening and you sleep like a baby and feel fine until the next evening with a $20-30 9.2-.3 bag of the "pure H they call it." I am not saying that to make you envious or anything as I am about to go to Rehab for it. NEVER TAKE SUBOXONE WHILE HIGH ON OPIATES, YOU WILL GO INTO PRECIPITATED W/D'S which are 10 X's worse than regular W/D's. The other way around you are fine. You can take Suboxone and than use opiates you just won't get the same rush. 3 years ago I had just taken 8mg Suboxone and went to the ER for Kidney Stones, def loved the morphine drip and felt that. Anyhow Opiates won't strip Suboxone off your receptors but Suboxone will strip Opiates off your receptors. GOOD LUCK BABE...
FYI - If you can stay on Suboxone for 5-7 days DO IT! The first 3 days take however much you need to be as comfortable as you can be 1-2/day maybe. Than 1/2 a day for 2 days than 1/4 for 2 days and than quit. I was on Suboxone for 1.5 years and the withdrawals were just as bad as Heroin or Opiates, lasted 2 weeks of cold sweats, no food, no activities. etc. But if you take it for a week... 2 TOPS than quit you will be fine. Suboxone is addictive too but a much better choice than Heroin. You and I are in the same boat, I know the struggle because I feel it everyday.
