Is Taking Pain Pills For Pain After Kicking Ok?

Hi,

I've been off methadone for exactly 7 days now. It's been really hard and I have other drug issues still to deal with (benzos) and I know my brain and body are going through monumental changes to restore equilibrium.

HOWEVER, I'm experiencing awful awful pain from an injury sustained 2 days ago & ibuprofen isn't cutting it. I'm afraid to take a Vicodin b/c I don't know if it will set me back, but I'm not sure what else to do. Pain is constant, leaves me sleepless, and as I'm already in emotional tatters after the long journey off heroin/methadone, this feels like one more thing to push me over the edge psychologically. Would you take it? Will it even help this close to being off opiates?

Thank you for your insights. :)

hi - you dont need to use an opiate based pain killer- there are new drugs available that are non opiate based and safe for addicts like us - all the best- do not let your DR give you tramadol- it is highly addictive contrary to what many DR's will tell you.
SYN,

I agree with Travelin Man on this, you are too new to being methadone free to do any opiates. If you were still on methadone it would be fine. If you can believe it ,many doctors still think that if we are on methadone we don't need pain relief!!! Idiots! While methadone is used for pain relief we still need other help when we are injured and are in pain. Speak to a pain specialist for the best help.

stay away from all opiates. itsso easy to end up right back in addiction, not worth it.
