Is There Anything That Will Help?

Hello all, i am a new person to the site and am currently preparing for the complete removal of weed from my life. I have accepted in the last week that there is no other way, there is no such thing as recreational usage for me. The thoughts of quitting and not smoking are making me so anxious and nervous all i can do is smoke. Tomorrow i am dropping of the rest of my stash and all my treasured supplies to a friend and will go cold turkey. I am seriosly shaking right now even writing this. i need some help obviously. This may be fu**ed up to ask, and please dont think im trying to jump from one drug addiction to another, but I was wondering if anyone took and kind of perscription or herbal medication to help the craving or side effects? Does anyone recommend anything for the inital phase? I have a freind who takes Zanex and thinks i should get some of that to start, any comments on that? Thank you to whoever does this site, everyones posts have been so helpfull, you'll be seeing me around, its nice to know im not alone in this struggle. Any ideas would be greatly appriciated as i venture into my new world.
Brenda, don't substitute one drug for another. It doesn't work. Seek professional help first. The right information will save you loads of time and get you on the path of recovery a lot sooner, and with a lot less failure time -- damaging to self esteem, etc. Addiction is a tough disease and is even tougher to understand. Seek professional help immediately so that you will fully understand the disease that you are dealing with. Remember, if you contracted the disease of cancer, you'd go to a professional for treatment, right ? Treat your disease of addiction the say way. But please let us know of your progress. Help is available for you -- and others are ready, willing and able to assist you with the help that you need.
Zanax is very addicting - don't use it. My Doctor would not give it to me for that reason.(I wanted it because of a severe family stress) Also, there is a chance of having seizures when you stop taking it. Don't take it.

I am not a marijuana addict, but my daughter and son-in-law are. They have ruined our family and I am now at the point of "tough love". But that is another story.

Good luck to you. Try real hard to do it on your own. Go to a support group.
Be strong.

Dear Brenda

Please, please ,please do not take Xanax,Ativan,or Valium, Clonopin. These drugs are called Benzodiazipines. They are highly addictive.Ther are antianxiety medications that a doctor preferably a psychiatrist can prescribe. If your doctor still prescribes these benzo drugs to you after explaining
your situation, find another doctor. Back in 2000 my doctor prescribed me Ativan
and I became addicted with 3 days. I inhaled a 30 day supply in 10 days, it was hell to get that monkey off my back it made me into a monster.
