I don't know if anyone remembers giving me advice last week, but I just wanted to stop in and say thanks. Went from taking ten a day a week ago and weaned myself almost two pills a day. Today is my second day of having none. Feels great not to be on them anymore!!! I hope if anyone is thinking about getting clean and they are to afraid to go cold turkey they will at least try something. You just have to be willing to make that first step.
Godbless
KYC,
Two days! Congratulations. That's wonderful news.
Be good to yourself.

Hey KYC,
Great news. I find most drug addicts (myself included) fear withdrawal more then death itself. And while it's certainly no fun, it's survivable. Good on ya for your taper and stopping. If you begin to feel a bit worse, know it'll get better pretty quickly. Burn your bridges to the drugs. Make a plan for cravings and triggers. Just be sure you don't have easy avenues to get more. Stick with it, you're doing great. Beck

Congrats on your 2 days without pills. It can be very difficult to detox this way, but now you will be totally off. That is fantastic! Keep up the great work and stay focused on staying clean. All of the times I tried to do it c/t I would get thru the worst of w/d only to turn around and do it all over again. For some reason I always forgot how bad I felt. Never forget that. Take care, Atlas
What at coincidence. I am down to 2 pills a day, but have taken the whole process more slowly. I was taking 10 Vicodin a day and went from 5, 4, 3, etc. I think in one more day I will be down to 1 or nothing. But I don't feel like I have the flu. I feel very jittery and nervous; as if I could jump out of my skin. How long will this last? Does anyone know? Why do I feel like this and not with flu symptoms? I keep hoping every day will get better. It is so hard to be at work feeling as I do. Hard to be anyplace. I even attended the Rolling Stones concert Tuesday night at the Hollywood Bowl. Withdrawals at a Stones concert? Doesn't seem right.
You probably have easier w/d symptoms since you tapered. Expect the "jumpy skin" for a couple more days, and maybe some insomnia after that. You're doing great. You are going to feel so much better, and your body is going to thank you for not abusing it. Take care!
kyc,
Congrats on 2 days. Keep that positive attitude.. You will get better and better each day. Hang in there... Just remember you can do it and keep telling yourself that!! Rae
Sherlyn,
Welcome to the board. Well it looks like you have a good schedule going and you'll be totally off soon. Good for you.. As far as the whole jumping out of your skin feelings yes that is normal and it really stinks huh? I remember those days oh it was horrible. Just remember if your down to 1 pill a day you could always jump off now and get it all over with at once... Does your doctor know that your quitting? Anyway once your totally off all the symptoms of the flu will probably hit you along with the jumping out of your skin feeling. It won't last forever though and it will pass. Don't dwell to much on the pain of it all just keep telling yourself your going to get through this and you never have to go through this again..Stay positive..Talk to your doctor about what OTC medications you can take. I took Immdoium AD, Comtrex Flu, Mortin and multi-vitamins during my detox. I took a lot of hot bathes and drank a lot of water and felt a lot better after about 7 days.... It won't be easy but your energy will gradually return. Good luck to you.. Rae
Ps. Your right doesn't sound right for someone to be in withdrawls at a rolling stone concert,LOL

Sherlyn saids... "feel very jittery and nervous; as if I could jump out of my skin. How long will this last? Does anyone know? Why do I feel like this and not with flu symptoms?" Sheryl the pain pills you have been takin have slowed your body down and numbed it, now that your tapering down or off them you are experiencing hypomania, when i went cold turkey last year i went thru the samething, i couldn't even sleep at night, so i got a script of Ambien which helped me sleep at night. But about 6 months ago i went back to taking 8 percs a day and i am tapering down myself, just in the last few days i went from 8 a day to 4 a day, and over the next few weeks ween myself down to one a day then get off them, but no way i'm goin cold turkey off 8 a day, been their done that and it sucks bad. Goodluck
KYC and Gladiator, I'm with you on this one. Cold turkey is no walk in the park and I wish others would share their tapering stories on here to show others that there is an alternative to cold turkey and Suboxone. Good Luck and keep up the great work.. I'm proud of you..............
Well it is Monday and since Saturday I am down to one Vicodin a day. I haven't taken my one today yet. Maybe this is my last one. My husband is handing them out to me--so I am not sure. This is horrible!! How do you stand it? I have felt this "jumping out of your skin" feeling since last Tuesday. Remember, I have been going off the meds very slowly. I am not in any pain and am able to sleep by taking a sleeping pill at night. My only peace is sleeping at night. That is my only escape. To top it off I have so much stress. Don't we all. I am at work now and work for one of the top men at the company. I even think today they are going to celebrate my birthday with singing and ice cream (my birthday was Nov. 2). I hope I can hold it together. All I want to know is when will this feeling go away?
Sherlyn
It probably won't go away until you get all the poison out of your system. You may have few more days of feeling like crap and then the worst will be over. What are you going to do to stay clean? Are you going to AA/NA or therapy. There's more to quitting pills than just quitting pills. We all need some kind of help when the fog clears.
Hang in there, the best is yet to come
