Its almost like the cliche " you have the devil on your shoulder" telling me its ok, just one drink, you've worked hard today, It'll make you relax and wind down. You deserve it.!!! He or she makes it sound so good. I hope i can beat the devil.

Hey ginny. I was about to post a message asking about you.
If I might make a suggestion and it's only a suggestion . . . Go to the Alcoholics Anonymous website and read Chapter 5 "How it Works" from the Big Book. It's available there for free in its entirety.
here's the site http://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org/
Easy does it. Just got to get thru today, one minute and one hour at a time. Be good to yourself.

Thank You Bob B. I read chapter 5. And i do believe in god and to put our hope and trust in him. I realize that these cravings wont disappear over night. I wont drink tonight i know that for a fact. Dont have any in the house anyway. It does feel good not to drink. I know people stop at the house and probably had smelt it on me. I tried to keep my distants from them so they wouldn't smell it. It bothered me to think what they were thinking. I hate being an alcoholic. If i say it enough maybe the cravings and want will go away.

ginny, there's a lot more to chapter 5 than the god thing. God can do anything, he is all powerful.
consider your willingness to get beyond the belief that your "will power" and "self control" will keep you from picking up. take your time. if you desire it enough, it will come to you, a little at a time.
good to hear your confidence about today -- it's only today that matters.
and your thankfulness -- it's a sign of healthy humility.

Hi mupmup i would of loved to chat with you but i think i was already in bed. i go to bed at 8:00pm. I have to get up so darn early. I made it thru the 2nd night. I feel so good about it in the mornings. The darn evenings are hard. I like not waking up feeling guilty. Right now i am having trouble getting to sleep. That must be some of the side effects of not drinking. I thought maybe i would go to the health food store and see if they have any natural seep aids. If not i will suffer through it. What time do you usually go on the chat line? maybe i will chat with you tonight. Thanks for the incouragement.
Bye for now Ginny sue.

Even if i'm not on the chat, there will be many other great people that are. YOu should really join it. It is free. I am from British Columbia. Where do you live, because it might be on different time zone. But anyhow, good work on staying sober! I am very proud of you. Doesnt it feel good to get up and feel good about yourself? I know the evenings are hard. They were for me at first too and somtimes still are. The hardest thing for me is going to get togethers where everyone's drinking. But I have gotten thru them. Again Ginny Sue...great work and please keep it up!!!! You will be happy you did!
