Hello,
Am new to this board. I have read some of the other threads and everything you all have gone through is what I'm going through still. I met my partner 6 years ago and had no idea he was addicted to drugs until a few months into dating. I was offered a job in Vegas and was hoping that us moving here would get him away from all the bad people around him in the town we were living in. What I didn't think about is, no matter where you go (especially a place like Vegas) drugs are every where. Moving down here he did stop doing heroin, but kept using opiates (vicodin, oxy, roxy, whatever else). We went to a doctor who prescribed him suboxine and colonopan. DON'T ever think this is a good idea. Suboxine is just another form of heroin. I've fought with him, threatened to leave, hid the money, keys to the cars and on and on.
Fast forward to a month ago. My fiance finally went 20 days sober. Like literally. Not one drug. He was going to NA and everything was going really well. His speech was faster, eyes didn't looked all messed up, skin was clean, etc. (He never shot up heroin, only smoked it). A few days ago his back was in such pain, he was crying. Not having health insurance, we had to go to the ER. We told the Doctor he was previously abusing opiates. They gave him flexoral and tramodol as a perscription, but when he got into the hospital, they gave him 1 vicodin which I didn't know. This messed everything up. After a few days he disappeared with the keys to the car, took out all the money from the bank and didn't come home for a day. He had found more Vicodin in the ghetto and then went crazy and found heroin again.
I just don't know what to do anymore. I want to leave but we have a house and business together that still has a 2 year lease. Our bank accounts are joined so its just a mess. I guess I'm posting on here because I just want some advice. I'm so stuck in this s***ty life right now and I do love him, I just can't go through this again. I just don't know what to do.

We will always go back to dope....no matter what they give us for an opiate...sounds like he's gone in for another run...can be short or long...no telling...as always...get yourself into a naranon program if you can...disconnect. ...and put your finances in your name if possible. ..
I have heard this over and over that in the hospital the addict and family members will tell the doc's they need non-narcotic pain meds, but the doc's give the narcotic anyway.
In the end, it is in the hands of the individual addict to ask what they are being given and refuse it.
I guess the doc's dont care. You are here bc you are in pain, this is what I give for pain, take it or leave it.....
???
Time to look into alternative medicines.....
