Just Realizing I Need Help..alcohol/phentermine

I am 31f married w/3 kids. The alcohol consumption has been causing problems in my life for a long time. I am just now realizing I really need some professional help. The Phentermine is as big of a problem. My dose is getting higher everyday. I just can't spend 30 days in a detox center. I work for in a Drs. office to make it even worse. Any advise?
Hello, have you tried any AA meetings. I drank for 28 years and I am 46 years old. I have 23 months of sobriety today. Let me know if you have any questions. I didn't go into rehab or detox...I am also a cocaine addict...also 23 months w/o snorthing the stuff...I started attending AA on a regular basis...I had to admit I was powerless over alcohol and that my life had become unmanageable. Life is so much better today. Let me know if you have any specific questions or if I can be of help in anyway. Hang in there....it took me 20 years of trying until I finally got sober!
Thank you for responding. I have never tried any kind of help outside of myself. I have other issues with depression, codependency (self diagnosed). I guess I still deny this being a problem I can't handle. I am searching for a specialist that can at least evaluate my situation and go from there.
Thx for the advice :)

Check out these 20 questions, it may help you to decide if you have a problem with alcohol or not. When you visit a medical profession, ie, psychiatrist, psychologist, therapist, addictionologist, etc. it has been my experience that they have you take this little survey.........most of the time after I answered quite a few "yes" I was referred to AA.

Are you an alcoholic?

To answer this question, ask yourself the following 20 questions and answer them as honestly as you can.

1. Do you lose time from work due to drinking?
2. Is drinking making your home life unhappy?
3. Do you drink because you are shy with other people?
4. Is drinking affecting your reputation?
5. Have you ever felt remorse after drinking?
6. Have you often gotten into financial difficulties as a result of drinking?
7. Do you turn to lower companions and an inferior environment when drinking?
8. Does your drinking make you careless of your family's welfare?
9. Has your ambition decreased since drinking?
10. Do you crave a drink at a definite time daily?
11. Do you want a drink the next morning?
12. Does drinking cause you to have difficulty in sleeping?
13. Has your efficiency decreased since drinking?
14. Is drinking jeopardizing your job or business?
15. Do you drink to escape worries or troubles?
16. Do you drink alone?
17. Have you ever had a complete loss of memory as a result of drinking?
18. Has your physician ever treated you for drinking?
19. Do you drink to build up your self-confidence?
20. Have you ever been to a hospital or institution on account of drinking?

If you have answered YES to any of the questions, there is a definite warning that you may be an alcoholic.

If you have answered YES to any two, the chances are that you are an alcoholic..

If you have answered YES to three or more, you most likely are an alcoholic.
Hi... i have a question about phentermine... i was going to ask the dr for some script weight loss pills... are there any wt loss pills that he can prescribe that aren't addicting or am i playing with fire?
Pebbles, I don't know where you are, but I would check to see if you can be seen by a local Council on Alcohol and Drugs or your local Mental Health Authority for possible screening/assessment/treatment. You may not have to attend residential treatment as there is also out-patient treatment available in most locals. Don't be afraid, take care of yourself. The self-help groups (AA etc) are another way to get "clean and sober" without being diagnosed but it is not easy either way. Good Luck.
