doing it today with subutex just want some advice i know its going to be hard just need to know how long it will be for the worst the very worst of it any advice appreciated.
Apparently its best to leave it 24 hours after using heroin to use subitex. It can bring on serious withdrawels if taken too soon.
Normally you still feel edgy for first few days but normally after 3 days you start feeling "normal" again. Obviously without sleeping tablets or anti depressants you may feel a little down and cant sleep. My boyfriend sleeps ok but gets very down. Think its still phycological so keep it strong in your mind that this is what you want. Regardless subitex has an opiate blocker which can scare some people cos they think once I have took them I cant have a hit, you can but it wont affect you! Just be sure and ready before you start and all I can say is I wish you the best of luck! xx

Hi Helen,
Know nothing about subbies.........Bunny gave ya some good advice there.
Pretty much I too would bring up the psychological part of it.........is this your very first kick?
It's tough all around, but please come back and post........this board has been a saving grace for alot of us........we've all pretty much kicked a few times, and getting on here and posting really helps.........nobody can judge you here.......and there's no questions too out there to ask.......plus the loved ones of us addicts often can give excellent advice....they've been through it all too.
Hang in there, Helen.........you can do this thing........there's times when it seems you can't, but we've done it.......so can you........and congrats on taking that big step.

Helen don't now much about Subs, but wish you well with your detox. All the baest. Keep the faith, Kev
done it once b4 was clean for four years, me and husband doing it together its just knowing wot the next 24hrs r going to be like thanks for encouragement . i can cope with most withdrawals just always sick and sneezing, how many hours is it b4 ur completley your body free from heroin.my best mate is helping us we c** to stay wiv her from the drugs any advice for her.
Hey Helen,
I'm taking Sub for pain pills but it's really no different than withdrawing from Heroin. Did your doctor give you any time frame to stay clear of Heroin before starting Sub? Most advice is 12 to 24 hours....the longer the better. During your w/d period, you'll get relief from hot baths, Immodium, and bananas. Do NOT take any Benzo's...Klonapin, diazapam or the like.
I detoxed by myself so I don't know what it would be like to have a friend on stand-by but she should just make sure you don't have access to any drugs. Oh, and she might want to keep a low profile for the day. We wouldn't want her to get hurt, now would we! I'm kidding. Good luck!

thanks wot dose ru on coz im injecting 3-4 bags and dont know how many to take my m8ts harder than me thats y shes helping us she takes no crap its just the sickness
Helen,
I'm sorry but I'm really not the one you should be asking about how much to take. It sounds as if you're not under a doctor's care, which, I believe, is really the only way to succeed with Sub. Again, I'm sorry that I can't be of more help but, I do not advocate the use of Sub without the supervision of a physician and I won't be able to advise you. I hope you understand that it's only because without the knowledge of a medical professional, you could hurt yourself. If I were to give you advice, I could hurt you. I wish you the best of luck.

i see my doc every week he said up to 16mg but didnt know if id need that much as they r addictive also.
Ah, I see.
So sorry for the misinterpretation. It just depends. I started at 16mgs. and it was too much for me. I felt high and I felt overmedicated. It's difficult to explain because it's not the same high you get from heroin but, you'll know what I'm talking about if it too much. I'm surprised your doc didn't have you in his office for the first dose. I'm assuming you're not in the states so they might do it differently but, usually they want to observe you to make sure you can tolerate it.
Anyway, they gave me 8mgs. to start. I waited about 3 hours and took another 4mgs. and was instructed to wait another 4 hours and take the last 4mgs. I felt fine at 12mgs. and should have never taken the last 4mgs. It was way too much. Because everyone's different, you'd be better to take a small amount, wait a while and see how you do. You can always take more if you need to but once you've taken too much, you just have to ride it out and come down from it. I believe it's better to stay at as low a dose as possible because Sub is addictive and it's easier to withdraw from smaller amounts.
If you have any questions or you can't find the proper dose, you should give your doc a call. Hope everything's ok!

Helen, ya know too how when yer all jumpy and rattled...........and your gone mad without sleep............I had this trick helped some people.
Wedge yourself between like a wall and a bookcase..........or under something tight..........almost like a cacoon.......it sounds nuts, but it worked for me every single time.........you can at least try it if you're desperate and oddly enough ya can even shut your eyes for a few minutes.............hang in there.

Hope it's going well.

Bryn,
I read about the trick of wedging yourself into a tight space. It sounds like you were using a deep pressure or deep compression technique. It's a sensory thing that helps calm when you're stressed. I used that technique on my autistic students. I'd take a couch cushion, lay it on top of the student and then apply my own body pressure...just lay right over the the cushion. That might be very helpful to detox centers to know that if they don't already.
I wrote to you on my "mental illness" aka "going wacko" thread. I really want you to read it. BTW...I got some fish oil and calcium today. Those were 2 of the things I knew might help my little "condition".
Helen!!
Where are ya? I really hope you're doing ok.
Let us know, OK!
