Who believes in Karma? I got taken for 40 dollars of my tip money tonight. I am not mad about it, because I am sure that I deserved it. I had a table that paid in half cash and half credit. I think I returned the 40 cash when I took the credit slip back to be signed. I believe that they took back the 40. I am 99% positive that that is how it happened. I am always very careful with my money, especially at work. I didn't throw it away, I looked in the trash. I just think that because over the years of my addictions, I know that I have F**cked over a server or two, and ruined some peoples nights. So I got it done to me. What can I do? Nothing. Life life on life's terms and take it as a loss. Normally I would be steaming mad, but now I just look at it as bad karma that I created, "back in the day." Which was a wednesday, by the way.

yes I believe in karma to an extent. Perhaps it was an honest mistake on their part too. Try to release it all without anger and yu may be surprised at how the money is returned to you in unexpected ways.
Perhaps the universe is forcing you to make amends? who knows? You can't change the universal laws.
what we can't know is in what way those things come back to us - sometimes we cannot make the connection, things may not seem to be related but they are.
I know I certainly haven't been 100% honest in all my dealings esp. where alcohol was involved and it does weigh on me.

LL - I think Idgie hit the nail on the head...I think it will come back to you in other ways though...I was told it's not really my $$ anyway, God is my employer and it's his $$ to begin with....whatever I get is just a blessing...hope this makes sense...it did to me when I first heard it, but I am very tired tonight and just trying to stay awake until 10:30 pm in order to pick up my youngest daughter from work.

Thanks guys. I believe that the universe is getting me back and that I will get it back in many different ways. I talked to a girl tonight that I was very mean to while I was drunk. I haven't talked to her in months and months. She e-mailed me and I called her tonight. I told her all about my recovery and made amends to her about what I had said and the way that I acted. It felt good. A "pre-quil to the other talks I will be having." Thanks again.

And don't think of the universe as being out to get you - its more of an action/reaction thing - the laws of nature. There are consequences to the things we do - its not a malicious thing. I think that side of the universe is rather impersonal actually.

Its the law of nature that's all.

LL, I believe in karma, also the Lakota theory of "mitakuye oyasin" or we (eveything in the universe) are all related. I think everyone & everything is connected to everyone & everything else on some level. But I agree with Idgie, I don't think the universe is out to get you... you have made great strides, have stayed sober for what over 100 days, you are making amends with people you have hurt in the past... I think you are doing great, and soon the universe will reward. What goes around really does come around. Hope you're doing well today...

Thank you Ciaobella- I think what you said is very true. I believe in the karma thing, but I also believe that my higher power has something to do with it. Last night I got upset for a couple munutes, then I told myself there is nothing I could do about it, I figured that the people took their money back and it was karma getting me back for the nasty things I have done in restaurants in the past. Then I asked God to forgive them for they know not what they do, and low and behold I found that money this afternoon when I got dressed for my shift tonight. It was in my shirt pocket, I swore that I checked it, but it was there. A 20 and two 10's, just like it should have been. I thanked God for giving it back and apoligized for thinking anything different. I learned an imporntant lesson.

I have been feeling better physically, I just wish I could quit smoking. I am sure that I can, part of me doesn't want to, but for my health I know that I should. What should I do about that? Do I have to hit a smoking "rock bottom?"

LL, My boyfriend is going thru the same thing...he quit in April '05 and picked up again in October of '05 and is trying to quit again. He is in recovery too, so we discussed it, and prayed about it last night...and he is going to try to work the 3rd step on it, I say try, because I am trying to do the same thing in regard to food, I want to lose 20 lbs...but it's easier said then done...he will turn it over just like I do, then we end up taking it right back. I know if God could take the obsession and cravings away for alcohol and drugs for me...I know, just like you know, he can do it for any of our vices...I guess it just depends on how willing we are. Good luck to you. Keep me posted on your progress.
Hey LL, glad things worked out in the end - that makes me believe in karma even more, it really is all related! I understand about the smoking too, I've cut down a lot but still haven't quit, my oldest addiction remains my strongest! Hope you're having a good day...
Hey VW, when my cousin quit smoking he used this method - he kept cases of bottled water in his house, and anytime he wanted a smoke he would drink an entire bottle of water first, & if he still wanted a smoke he would have one. And eventually he didn't want one anymore, and quit the smokes without gaining weight. It didn't work as well for me but maybe it could work out for your BF? Anyway good day to you as always...

Thanks Ciaobella, I'll mention it to him when I speak to him, he is away for business but I'll definitely talk to him tomorrow 'cause it's his birthday. I should try the water thing with food too....(Jayde always recommends it...but I've yet to really increase my water intake...).

..Yep..i believe in karma..and wot you dish out will come back on you at sum point in your life..if sumones in love with you and you use them cos you know they will do anything for you..in the future i believe the same will happen to you and you will feel the pain that they felt..if you cheat on sumone who loves you..sumone you love will end up chaeted on you..theres loads of ways karma can work on the individual..but i also believe..if you do good for sumone in life sumone will do good for you when you least expect it..as they say..wot goes around comes around..Robbie..
