KeeKee, is there a time limit where if you are in withdrawal for too long, you shouldn't take the sub? I mean, would it be too powerful if you were say, 2 -3 weeks off of narcotics? I wonder Sharonn....you're over the worst of it, maybe you can just continue the cold turkey and get yourself into a 12 step program? That would eliminate having to deal with the sub. Be a helluva lot cheaper too. I know money is an issue. L, Lisa
Hi Lisa, yes it is perhaps best to take suboxone while in moderate w/d. However....suboxone and this has to be stressed!! It not just a get out w/d free card!!! A powerful medication that is should never be used for this purpose alone!! There are Doctors that will allow this...highly unethical in my opinion. You need to supervised by a good Doctor that has a vested interest in the outcome.
Its a maintenance medicine...that will allow Sharon who's body has been racked with real pain and opiates for years. Its job will be that of to allow her to heal the damage that has been done to her brain and body.
It will allow precious time to heal and feel better so one can escape the depression that follows a heavy addiction. It then allows the time to start a great program with success.
I quit pills several times...I got through w/d....it was the brain chemistry issues that always led me back to using. With sub you get relief from all of that. Like I said, I am not endorsing sub....only saying what has worked wonders for me.
I am now 5 months clean....that's amazing. But I now tapering off sub...so very grateful for the chance to live a good life!!!!

I am taking Tony's 5 mg. vicodin which are barely helping since I cannot see the Dr. until Monday. Now I have shingles. Stress............S
I understand KeeKee..thanks for clarifying that. Sharonn, so you are still using then, you aren't in withdrawals? I'm sorry this is stressing you out so much, I've had shingles, they are horrible. Cortizone cream works wonders for them along with motrin.
Crap! When it rains it really pours!! I am sorry, I have never had shingles but I hear that they are not fun and can be very painful. The vic will help...even if it is just a little bit. Do what you have to to remain comfortable!
Remember to stop taking the vicodin early in the afternoon on Sunday....before your appointment. You will have to be in w/d before taking the suboxone.
Huge hugs for you....dare I say...Happy Easter! This will be one to remember!
