Sorry I missed your post last night but just wanted to answer your question about Ambien and this is just coming from my experience with it. When I was abusing Oxys which my doctor didn't know at the time that I was abusing them she put my on Ambien 10mgs for RLS. LIke any good addict (LOL) I told myself I would take them as prescribed and I did for a short while. Even while taking them as prescribed it had me doing some crazy things in the middle of the night. I would wake up in the morning to find I had ate a whole cake and didn't remember doing it. I would talk to things that weren't there, one night I got up to go to the bathroom and fell off the toilet and broke my tooth and the list goes on. O.K. fast forward to when I wasn't getting the high I needed from the oxys but I found if I took more of the Ambien along with the oxys I felt pretty good. I started taking the Ambien during the day. I was going through 30 pills that should have lasted a month in maybe a week. I think I posted this somewhere but one night I took one to many and all I remember was having this dream and I ended up in the middle of the night at my bedroom window. I opened it and opened the screen and was getting ready to jump from my bedroom to the porch.My bedroom is on the second floor and the porch is a little far away so needless to say I wasn't gonna make it but I was sure willing to try. Thank God my husband woke up and caught me. I really can't say what w/ds I had coming off of them because I also was w/ding for oxys at the same time. That stuff needs to be taken off the market in my opinion. It is very dangerous and addictive. Shantel

My dad takes Ambien also .... he's been on them for a while. My dad is NOT an addict and does not abuse them in any way ... just takes one at night before going to bed. But they do make him do odd things sometimes and he never remembers the next day ..... luckily not anything dangerous ..... but he does tend to make phone calls sometimes after taking an Ambien and he NEVER remembers the conversation!!! You can tell when it's an "Ambien call" from him cause he sounds kinda funny, almost drunk ... and if you ask if he took his Ambien and is laying down, he always will say yes.
I agree that Ambien is a scary med!! Doctors should be VERY careful IMO about Rx'ing it.
And now the Pharm Company has come out with Ambien CR!!!!! Just great ..... wonder if that will give you longer lasting side effects?!?!?!

I can say from my experience when my dad passed away I couldnt sleep(too much baggage)so my Dr gave me a script for that....OMGoodness after 2 night of such horriable nightmares they went into the toliet,Yup an addict actually flushing something,THAT should tell you how badly I was effected by them.
I read in a different post about(sp)Valtiern Root)I went to the healthfood store & spoke with the lady there & yes out of alot of different natural herbs THAT was highly recommended so whenn funds allow I will try it.
I figure after years(YEARS)of 2 hour sleep wake up another 1-2 hrs it cant hurt to try..,..
