I get the feeling that this board has a lot more people from England than the States on it (at least regulars). Not that it matters, but is there a bigger heroin problem over there than here?
It seems that there is a bigger pain pill problem here-
Now these are just observations off this site. I dont have a clue. Maybe thats why there are so many alternitive treatments over there. I think that the medical profession over here is a bit behind the times when it comes to heroin addiction. Sometimes it seems like they want us to just go away, sweep the problem under the rug. From what I read from you guys, they actually care about the addict.
Am I reading to much into this??

I also notice that I rarely hear about NA from over there. Not that I hear a real lot about it over here either. However,a lot of clinics here require that you at least attempt to go to meetings(not mine)
Just curious

gotta go the Simpons are on-

Hello,Jack i tend to agree in Europe&on this board that really means u.k&Treland there are more posters.our proximity to iran&afganastan&decades old smuggling routes mean that thers rarely a heroin drought, prices&quality are better. On a street leval heroin is v.easy got&its not just dealt by ethnic/social minorities, anyone with a mobile phone&a cple hundred can start themselves up as a dealer.as for recovery there deff is a more humane&also lax system over here, they know things like subs or meth. can work&usually have no social problem treating addicts. As for the pain pills they seem to be more tightly controlled over here&addicts are not aware of there existence,o.k a chemist or factory might get robbed&u will have a deluge of especially napps i.e morphine tabs on the street, but we dont have the big problem you have in the states.we do have a major benzo problem though.Just a lil taste of drug life here,...take care Jack....Davey
Interesting take Davey.
Yeah cell phones have kind of taken over here also- but its still the lower classes and mirorities with the 200 dollar cells. Its usually the parinoid white guy/girl who would rather pay a few extra bucks then walk into the hoods where all the action is.I always hear the quality is better if your willing to go into hell to score. I figure by the time the guy with the cell gets rid of his batch ,its probably been stepped on one more time.

Yeah same shi& ,seperated by an ocean

much respect

..Jack..
..Hope things are ok with ya..You know wot mate..thats one of the first things i noticed when i first started coming on here >> the pill problems in America..i don,t hear much about pill probs over here in the British Isles..but we do have a massive heroin and crack problem over here..plus we are such a small island compared to yours..thats why i think you have a wider pill problem..but your right..our island (as far as i know)..has more of a crack/cocaine/heroin problem..take care mate..Robbie..
Cocaine and crack are pretty bad in the states and methaphedamine is an epidemic and pills are getting there.
Heroin probably takes a back seat to the above...altho I am not really sure of the stats.
You know Jack, in all my years as a junkie in the UK, i have never met one single person who was a pain pill addict. Sure, heroin addicts will once in a while get hold of peach palfs or something similar, but smack is rife, and smack walks hand in hand with crack. Like strawberries and cream...

I think it's because we have the NHS. It's not usual for most folks to go to a private Dr. Again, lots of folks have some kind of health insurance, normally through their jobs, or if they're loaded, but the first port of call is virtually always a regular national health service GP, and if you need specialist treatment for something then you get referred on. if you haven't got health cover, you will probably have to wait a while, but you'll probably end up seeing the same Dr anyway, coz lots of Drs have both NHS and private practices. And as for being more caring, again, i put that down to the good old nhs again. I had the misfortune to have private health cover with my job, and I got referred to a private addictions shrink, who interviewed me once and pressured me to go into The Priory immediately. The Priory is Britains answer to the Betty Ford Clinic, I believe. That's where all the stars suffering from "exhaustion" (LOL!!!) go. Anyway, it's a full on profit making organisation, and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. It really scarred me, no joke. They shoved NA down my throat non-stop, no escape, no choice. They tried to brainwash me into believing that heroin addiction was essentially the same thing as anorexia, or any other compulsive problem. I didn't get it, and I didn't buy it, and ended up being thrown out of the place for being a bad influence. They were quite happy to relieve my health insurance of the best part of 10,000 for a three week stay though. Total twats! I virtually ran into the arms of my local friendly dealer, tears of relief running down my face on my "escape".

Anyway, the government funded programs have a different motive - ie, helping people get clean is the primary goal, not making disgusting amounts of money off the back of peoples misery and desperation. They don't kick you out for making a slip up - OK, if you take the pee, they stop seeing you, but as a rule, if you are up front with them, they will give you more support when you are struggling, instead of kicking you when you are down. And they understand that to tackle the drug problem, they have to go to the problem, not sit in an office waiting for the problem to come to them. So, you get a drug worker and often a support worker as well, who come to you, in your home, as often as needed. I've been clean from heroin since the end of May 2005 and clean from subutex since march this year, and I still see my drug worker. I was also put under the care of an addictions specialist psychiatrist, who again, I still see regularly. They put as much effort into relapse prevention as they do into getting you off the s*** in the first place. And all this five star treatment, along with all the drugs you need (subutex/methadone/benzos/anti-deps/anti-psych etc etc) are all absolutely FREE OF CHARGE. But, you know, most people in this country don't know they're born. All you hear is people whinging and moaning about the NHS. I'm not going to get on my political soap box (well, actually I am) but we need to pay a bit of respect to those good old red or deads, who had the courage of their convictions. Tony Blair could take a leaf out of the David Lloyd George, Aneurin Bevan, Tony Benn, Ken Livingstone book of tradition! OK, they would probably bankcrupt the country in six months, but Mr Blair sold Labour out, big time!

Well, quite enough of that! How's life treating you jack? I'm enjoying being ignored at home now. Honestly I am! The only time I get any peace is when he's in a mood with me!

love

With ya on yer post Diff, asyou you said for nothing, ive been on a meth.clinic for 6yrs.&would not be expected to or asked for a penny, its all free. Also our welfare/unemployment payments are higher, especially in Ireland were someone can stay out of taxable work if they want&get roughly $160 a week,o.k they have to play the sytem,so for a lot of unemployed thats a nice lil smack binge.Your controls are far heavier in regard to all the social schemes&also smack is in every town or city or even rural area now.people may have that lil extra to kickstart a habit, unfortunatly. All the best ....Davey
Hi Diffski !!!
Wow - thats a lot of information - Just when I start to think Im a real know-it-all,I realize I know nothing about the politics and policies of the UK.

Now Im going to search David Lloyd George, Aneurin Bevan, Tony Benn, Ken Livingstone - to find out what the hell is going on.(gotta love the internet)

Hope your feeling well - You must be starting to show a little by now huh?- Cravings? etc... God Im glad Im a guy!

much love & respect

by the way Mary-gotta go"The Simpsons "are on
Hmmmpf. I am missing for a week or so and we're doing a survey? LOL

I go by National Enquirer. Now that Doherty fellow of Babyshambles got me wondering, and Kate is back with him? Oh, how will I look at Burberry the same way ever again?

On Families Phil had a great post about the Afghan heroin. If my junkie memory serves me correctly Europe gets that heroin. US is like mexico with the tar, and I think Columbia. Think Al Pacino. Wait that was coke right?

Say hello to my little friend.

So, when people in Europe got the anthrax from the dope I was mighty glad my poison got muled in some fat dudes butt to be evacuated I guess with well whatever.

Oxy's. They took over here, and how. Especially with the kids. They think pill?
No biggie. We eat pills all day. Asprin, antihistamines, well sir you have dry eye? Here's a dry eye pill. It doubles as a cholestral lowering med.

NOW my question??????? If some things that are OTC in England that have codeine in them why ain't y'all buying them up. Those tablets for sore throats. They fizz. I call them "Fizzy Lifting Drinks". Never had them, but France, man Migralgine. You got a migraine fly to France. Banged my migraine out with like two doses.

Did we learn anything here? Oh, yes that American men are still like boys cause they love that Simpson's show. No Apu jokes, please.

I say nay on anyone anywhere caring about a heroin addict. Yay for we got the pharmaceuticals, and as mentioned the Crystal Meth, and the crack, and that "Wet". Lord knows we ain't needing that stuff around. Perhaps it is akin to PCP I believe. Angel dust.

All I had today was Excedrin. Oh, and my antihistamines, and I WILL take my Tylenol PM minus the Tylenol.

Does Bart ever get older?
AHHHH Welcome home Brynn

missedya

Hi jack - the guys I mentioned? Social (ist) reformers, welfare staters, tax and spenders. I've got my political head on today. I went to Andover this afters, looking for place to live actually, and it brought back fond memories of my thesis on the Scandal of the Andover Workhouse, which happened back in the days where poor relief was given on the basis of "less eligibility" which meant that it was only offered as a form of punishment, and you had to go and live in a jail-like institution and work like a dog for meagre rations, so most folks would rather die free than go to a place like that. And things were so bad at the Andover workhouse, that the inmates were eating the rotten bones from the kennels that they were supposed to be grinding. Loads of really nasty shirt happened there - I know, I read the original report into the scandal when I was writing my thesis. Anyway, it all came out in the wash, and most folks found it totally shameful, and it changed the way poor relief was distributed in this country forever. The genesis of the Welfare State was born... in the words of Michael Caine "not a lot of people know that..."

And me and the baby are doing great. This is an extremely cooperative baby, and apart from the unfeasibly large breasts that have rather surprisingly sprouted from my normally modest chest, I don't feel that pregnant at all. Yes, my waist is sort of disappearing, but at the moment I look more fat than pregnant. Actually, I can't wait to get a bit bigger, so the bloke in the bank can stop thinking "man, she's really let herself go!" and people will realise that it's not fat, it's BABY!!!!

Cravings? Well, I'm trying to replace the sherbet lemons with real lemons, coz that can count as one of my "5 a day" (do you get all that s*** in the state? People telling you to eat five portions of fruit/veg a day? 5 whole portions man! That's like... loads!) But the problem is I'd have to drink a hell of a lot of gin in order to eat enough ice and slices to constitute a whole lemon! Think the baby would rather have the sherbet lemons than get pickled in half a gallon of gin every day! Maybe I'm missing the point? LMAO!!!!

Anyway, I'm off to bed now...

love you
