Methadone

need info on getting off without withdrawl
I don't know if I'm the person to answer this. I've been on methadone for over 3 years. I'm on meintenence. You can detox with methadone also. They'll start you out at a certain dose, then up your miligrams gradually until you're comfortable, then slowly lower your miligrams. If you're young and you aren't using a large amount every day, suboxxone might be the answer. Someone else will have to tell you about that, though. I don't know much about it. Whatever you decide, best of Luck.
well i thank u much i have been on it to for a while but everytime i ask about coming off this stuff they always say i am not ready . i know all the clinics want our money but i am really getting tired of going i am also trying to get some info on suboxone?
hiya,
i was on methadone for 5 years and went to a place called topaz in dundee (scotland uk) and i detoxed off my methadone by taking lofexodine. i was on 50 mls and i reduced down to 12mls then i detoxed from there. it was a 2 week detox and i completed it successfully and i never felt a thing. the first night was difficult but i think a lot of it was in my head. i hope you do well and wish you all the luck. i am now writing a book of my experiences as well as other users story so if you are interested in volunteering your story i have posted a topic and you can contact me there.
good luck with the detox. if you really want it you will do it no matter what. just believe in yourself

lilred,

For your Methadone, what kind of dosage are you on? If it is high, that maybe why they tell you, you are not ready to detox off of it right away. You'll need to gradually lower your dosage over a period of time and see if that works for you. Those who switch to subs say you need to get down to 30mL or lower I think.

Also have you tried to get a second opinion from another clinic or doctor? Methadone treatment makes lots of money for private for profit clinics. I hate to say it but some clinics will put their profit margin ahead of their patients' best interest.
