Methadone

Hi guys
Hope everyone is doing allright, although i dont know anyone personally from this site, you feel there is a connection as we all had or have the same promblem in our lifes. Just wanted to ask is ive been on methodone for 6 months now, ive always been around 7 to 8 stone in weight, now im 9st 3lb
and recently ive been craving sweet things like chocalate, cakes, basically anything sweet i wont to eat it. Ive really started to watch what i eat now (oh im not pregant, just incase you think that) but it does feel like cravings, you know that feeling you just have to have it. The doctor i attend has put me on the sugar type, Does anyone know if the sugar free meth will make any difference?
Im watching the calories now something i never had to do..........but im worried ill end up looking like a burst couch!

Ive been on MMT for many years- all different types ,and from the people I have spoken with at my clinic say gaining weight on MMT is extremely common. Some gain a little, some gain a lot. And I - for one - have noticed the unusual, undeniable craving for sweets. I never ate sweets on a regular basis, on MMT there's a hormonal change that happens in some people that causes this phenomenon. Don't know I only gained a little but I watch my calories, sweets &TRY to exercise- Ive managed to stay kind of normal for a 51 year old guy that isnt that active anymore
...One thing I can say to you - to be encouraging - is that the weight gain seems to plateau. Like I said, some will gain a little, some a lot. I believe if we take proper care of ourselves and take extra care to get extra fruits and vegetables) and extra water and regular exercise (even a brisk walk ) it will help with the weight & the confidence

Yvonne.....ive been on methd. 7yrs.and have the same craving for sweets...you mentioned. My weight has gone up over the yrs but not to the point of worry.....i cycle 20miles a week and drink plenty of water like Jack said.so watch what ya eat and do a bit of exercise and you should be o.k.Take care............Davey
thanks for your posts, guess its common sense then, watch what you eat and stay active, I do walk everyday for nearly an hour so i will be careful what i eat. Im 36yrs now and i think when you get over 30 your metablizm(not sure of spelling) slows down much more than say someone in there 20.
Thanks guys
I gained a LOT, A LOT on methadone about 60 pounds maybe more!. I've been """off"" methadone 2 years + now i'm just now at my weight before methadone. I also ate a lot of candy and junk food and i stayed in the house i got lazy and ate all the time. I never was a person to LOVE CANDY untill methadone i got out of control with eating junk food...i hear it's common my brother never did gain on methadone he also never sat around eating candy and never leaving the house the way i did. I have found it REAL hard to stay a stable weight in recovery with or without the methadone i tend to really over eat being off H.
ive always been heavyset--but on methadone i have gained alot more than usual and i too crave crave crave sweets--i think part of the weight gain has to do with the constipation also...but im no doctor
my womans ma has bad constipation though she,s never been a user, last night we went out to move some gear out of her kitchen as she was gettin a new floor laid 2day and she was in a fowl mood as kids were playin up etc,her husband came out to ours 2day for a visit and to c what time we would go and i asked if she had s*** yet coz i was not going till she had.f***in biting face off everybody
