Just stating my opion, but I think methidone withdrawls are ten times worse than heroin withdrals!I overdosed on methidon pills and valuim right before I went to jail and was out of it for three days, but when it was out of my system I was sicker than ever before! When I got out and had a choice to maintain with methidone,I said hell no.So to you people that are trying to get off, good luck!I really do mean good luck! My mother in law is on the maintance program and will probally be on it for the rest of her life. But thats only for people who are not strong enough and either don't really want it nor the will power!!! You can do anything that you put your mind to! Don't mean to be discouraging, just sharing my opion ya know! But besides that doctors are always comming up with new drugs all the time and they should know what their doing! I'm not saying heroin is better, but just the d.t's.It took me about three months to really start feeling normal and not be taking sleeping pills every night.I hate that stuff soooo bad.Like I said don't want to affend anyone,Hope your program is working, sincerely
I'm with you too Trista. I loved methadone. I wasn't on a program, but would do it if we couldn't get dope at times. I actually like that high better than the dope too. But withing 28 hours or so I would need more, and the withdrawl from that made me mean as anything. I never had that turkeying from dope.
Personally I didn't accept it when offered because I thought I'd have to be going every single day just like I had to go for the dope. I actually worry now when it's snowing or a transit strike because I think WHOA all them addicts need their methadone.
Then again I know people that methadone has saved their lives. Yeah they have to make it to the clinic every day, but they haven't relapsed, and function well as a whole with the methadone. So in that sense it can be a miracle for some people.
I don't know a thing about subs. I'm finding it interesting though. I guess it's something we'll have to wait for to be able to see it effects in the future.
Good for you Trista with your clean time. Nice to see you here.
