I have been addicted to very strong doses of oxy and hence lots of xanax to get me through the w/d of oxy. Don't take either lightly. One is as bad as the other. SIck, Sick. No easy road there, no east road back. Gotta suck it up people....no pill will solve it. Swizzle, you're trying to help, but I went that route...it's a b****. Thanks for the good natural advice. it is very hard to detox from large amounts of oxy - it's one of the worst, but it can be done. i hope you keep trying.

3 months no oxy and 5 weeks no xanax. It can be done...you just won't like it

Swizzle...I was prescribed 3 mgs a day of xanax...I am sssssssssooooooooo greatful that I didn't like them...I only took .5 to 1 mg to sleep. I took them for a long time; when I went to treatment ( I got up to 20 10mg norcos a day and 12 cold beers on top of that...) I found out how dangerous xanax was; I never even knew that benzos were that bad...I had stopped them a few times. I had HORRIBLE anxiety, but I just attributed that to 20 pills and 12 beers a day..so I am not one to push benzos...but I know your heart was in the right place.

Swizzle, I'm in utah...not too many of us here. Went through hell...all was prescribed, except about 500 pills of xanax. Giving up lortab now (breakthrough pain...w/d?) and am getting there. Pretty bitchy today. I know someone on higher doses then me...200-300 oxy alone. She's 2 weeks clean and my hero. I'm a single mom, 2 16 year old boys (twins) tough f***** job about 90 hours a week, huge yard and no help. But I wanted it. I don't deserve a button, don't want one. But when all is said and done, I'll have earned it. Hang on...no easy waya. Just want it...more then you want to use! You're advice was good. Spent many a hot bath, pacing and crying. Drive fast and blare loud music. Helped the most. Try to give up the hate...(bush...sorry) and count, count your blessings. We're rich, the poorest amongst us. Love Beck
I'd like to add salt pills (for those without high blood pressure) as they help tremendously with the weakness (1 gram pills, 4 x day)
Also my Sub doctor told me that the liquid anti diarrheal (kaopectate?) was much better than the immodium when detoxing...but I can't remember why.

I thjnk if you can get the benzos - take them - you need all the help you can get -
If you take benzos for 2 weeks tops - you are not going to get hooked.
Also, I'd rather see someone take the benzos and stick with the program than give up on it b/c face it - this is not the eaiest thing in the world to do and I'm just trying to survive.

I know this is going to sound stupid, but for some reason I have found that Mountain Dew, helped with the energy, and stomach nausea. I don't know if its the sugar or caffeine, but I did help me
I have also noticed that if I don't take anything to help me sleep, I feel so much better when I wake up in the morning. That includes Benadryl. I think the sooner you can stop taking sleep aids the better. Thats just my opinion.

Regarding the Benzos - - -
Only take them under the close supervision of your doctor !!!!
If you strongly believe that you will not have a problem with them, the best thing is to have someone holding them for you and closely monitoring you're use of them...only get one dose at a time
Last thing anyone wants is to trade addictions!!!
It can happen too easily...after all, we are addicts....
But like alcohol, some opiate addicts are fine with it and don't become addicted
Other addicts can not take ANY mind or mood altering substances EVER !!!!

c'mon guys, a little common sense & discretion here. This is a helpful post on how to detox urself. i might not have mentioned the v's, but at the same time i think it is safe to assume that we are all familiar with their effects & the potential for addiction. but that is true whether u get them from a dr or not. if u do them for a small amount of time while going thru wds, in my humble opinion, it is infinitely better then not sleeping.

I believe that i have indicated (not suggested ) that sometimes using decreasing amounts of darvocet is a good way to detox off a drug. to make me not practicing medicine i also would say something like do this under a doctors care.
