My Name Is Marina And I Am Here

~ My name is Marina and I have been an addict for years. At this point I am fighting for my life. As I posted earlier I am going to a Dr. for Sub. treatment. I have been taking any where from 15 + hydro a day !! I have tried to taper and cold turkey many times. To anyone out there that has gotten clean by those two ways I congratulate you. It takes amazing will power and courage. I just wanted to let everyone that I am new and here to stay.

Hello sweetie welcome ive been down that road and still going down it im trying rite now to set aplan in place for me so hang in there it will get better postes will be along to help you answers some of your quetions love yspearing
Nice to meet you, I am new too.

Your story is very similar to mine. I was taking ANY pain pill I could get my hands on for some time... topped out at 20-30 Lorcets a day. I got on Buphrenophine and it did the trick. I was sober 3 months, relapsed once then sober another 3 months and relapsed again. I have learned one MAJOR lesson: don't let a slip take you down. Just admit what happens and KEEP TRYING! Good luck to you!

Great advice. I wish you all the best in your recovery. I'm just starting over. Got 10 days under my belt now - but determined to stay clean.

Hey girl - My computer just got fixed. I'm doing really good. How are you? You have been in my thoughts and prayers. Take care.

Thanks... I need all the help I can get. Nice to see you're in seeing a Sub. doctor. That drug is a miracle drug IMHO. Peace.
Cantgethigh, can you tell my about your experience on the Bup. Were you tired, any cravings at all, and withdrawal symptoms. How long before you felt yourself? how long on Bup?
Im planning on going to a sub doc asap and would appreciate any info on your experience.

Thanks Johnd
Sure. I got on Buph. after I got out off treatment and relapsed. My doctor gave me two 8mg doses a day. I felt NO withdrawals and the Buph. didn't get me high. I just completely lost the craving that opiate dependence causes. After about 2 or 3 months I dosed down to 8mg a day. The drug continued to work very well. I have been off of Buph. for about a month now... one small slip but other than that nothing. If I relapse on pain pills again I am going to get back on since it worked so well. One downfall is that my insurance company (Medica) does not cover Buph. because it views it along the same lines as Methadone. Hope this helps.
Thanks cant, sounds like it was a good experience. To be honest I dont care about the cost of Bup, it cant be any worse than the $$ Im throwing down the drain every month on percs.

Thanks again
JohnD
Right... I forgot to note, they cost around $4-7 a piece here, depending on who fills them. Good luck!
Thanks to evryone who posted me.
Good to know I am not alone

Marina ~
Good luck to all getting clean. I don't having any experience with bup - I recently quit a 10-12 hydro a day habit using a "fast taper" process setup by my psych. It wasn't easy but it worked. Anyway I've read of others' experiences on this forum with bup and it appears to be an effective means for getting clean. No matter how you get clean, please consider a long-term plan of recovery. Getting off the pills is a tremendous accomplishment, no question about it. But without some sort of ongoing commitment to recovery, then it can get really dicey when the fog clears and the mind starts feeling better. For me I've established a plan of recovery centered around 12 step rooms - both NA and AA. This is my 3rd time thru this hell, and I'm finally learning that as long as I stay honest with myself and admit that "I can't do this alone", then I should be okay.

Just a suggestion based upon my experience....

Jim
