my partner and father of my children has just told me he was a heroin and crack coccaine addict.. needless to say this has blown me away. i sent him to his mums for a couple of days where he started his (turkying)?? he now home after a couple of days. he is so cold and tired but seems to be doing well. what else am i excpected to see with him. this is all new ground to me. ive read people of methadone.. does he need this or will he manage on his own ... please help xx
He needs to be honest with you about his slip-ups (dont be surprised or too angry)

As far as methdone,Id wait and see iff he can handle life without it- some of us need it some of us dont. If he hasnt been on heroin a long time maybe he can avoid going that way.

Honestly expect the worste.
Cramps, sweats, shivers, vomiting, anxiousness, fatique, depression....I could go on and on. Although people can do this cold turkey in the long term I think it is always advisable to use a script from a gp and work alongside a drugs worker.
This site is also great for any help, advise and support.
Dont be too disapointed if he fails this time, as long as he sets it in his mind that he is going to do this, he will. Nothing you can do or say will change what he does and what he wants but knowing you are there will help him.
