My Son, Migraines, Insurance, Etc.

No, the insurance turned him down. I wasn't expecting it to cover his migraine prescriptions, but it was Blue Cross and they turned him down w/o explanation.
My neighbor has told me about a high risk health insurance he can get from State Farm I need to try that. We are basically looking for hospitalization.

He always has a dull headache and the marijuana would help that. With the threat of prison over his head, he resently completed a 90 day outpatient program. (He didn't go every day, but it took that long to complete.) He got his certificate and passed all of the drug tests and was let off of probation.

K was in rehab for weed and experimenting with other drugs at 17. He made up wild stories about what all he used and where all he had been. He was bleeding money from our ATM.

He was in rehab for 17 days. His father and I did not receive very good advice during this time. He should have been in longer. At day 100, he started using again. Shortly after that we showed him the door and he walked away.

Stealing was the deal breaker with us. Plus, we had younger children in the home.

I did attempt to return him to rehab, but he jumped from the van at 40 mph. The police took him to the hospital and he was fine. I was ordered to take him home with me, since he was 17. That only lasted 1 night and he walked out.

We no longer live in the same state as K. He spends 3 nights a week taking care of (just being there) my 87 yr. old mother. He does have a degree in graphic design, but the migraines make it difficult to hold a job.

Our journey with him is going on 5 years.

Good luck to all the other people on here. Marijuana has been a nightmare for us.

By the way NoMore, that is a lot of weed that Steven was smoking. I don't know where I got the idea that that was his DOC.
amy,
how long has your son been clean?
Well, he just finished the outpatient program and he was clean in that, so I would say 90 days.

But, like I said, he finished the program and the courts released him, so no one is holding his feet to the fire, anymore.

He is 22, so I haven't asked him if he plans to stay clean.
Amy

At least he is sober.

As far as the migraines are concerned, I am surprised that Blue Cross would not cover prescriptions for it. My own insurance, not BC/BS, (even when I used the HMO) does cover all my meds for migraines.

My daughter was getting migraines frequently, we started monitoring when/what she was eating....certain foods would trigger them and lack of proper nutrition....of course if they return, we'll consider meds. Sometimes our weather patterns have drastic change in temp. which can cause a migraine, as well.
