so, I am at day 17, and bloated from eating, the body is sore as hell still, but I am thinking about an N/A meeting soon. I was scared to go to soon, as I used to hear too many rumors of people finding good drug connections. Even when I was seeking, I thought about looking for pills that way, (sick, huh?) I don't want any weakness on my own part coming from a support group. Any one have any thoughts on this? Do you check out several newbie meetings first, and decide where you mostly fit in? I am lucky to have several nearby, and every night if needed. Thanks!
I have never seen or been offered drugs at a na meeting. look up a meeting in your area and just go. Just go with a open mind and no preconceived ideas. you can probably look up meetings online. you dont have to say anything, just sit back and listen, you will be surprised by how much you can relate.

i have never either, if that happens i suggest to just find a nother group to attend i dont mean meeting shop but i think it is important in recovory to have a good group that you can love and let them lov eyou and be proud of everyones progress............. so just dont give up!

If I was seriously looking for a drug connection, I could find one in a Pentecostal Revival meeting.
I've never heard of that personally although I'm sure it's happened.
If you are serious about your recovery,you will find as many reasons to go than to not.I will list a number where you can find a meeting near you.

All of us usually have trust issues ,so going into an environment where we are not used to is intimidating.Sit and listen for your first meeting.When they ask for newcomers,raise your hand and introduce yourself.You will have people who will welcome you and talk to you after the meeting.
Keep an open mind and listen for the similarities not the differences.

just a quick note.... thanks for the laugh.... no one knows how much I needed that this moment... Some times laughter seems soooo far away. so thanks...
as for the meetings...I have NEVER been offered, approached, or otherwise talked to about scoring drugs... not in 6 years,... There was this one incident where a girl in rehab which was coming to our meetings made arrangements to have some 'medication' left for her on the top of a tire of a disabled parked car in the rear of the building.... well needless to say she told the wrong person who told someone else and the drugs got mysteriously sprinkled in a nice little white path from the tire to the door of the meeting place for her to 'find her way'...lol... from her point of view it was a waste of a lot of money and good .......... but from ours, it was for the protection of our meeting, meeting place, and darn funny too.. if you ask me... it was priceless..... sounds like I am a cold hearted you know what well... this is life and death... not some gameshow... you either get it or you dont and if we dont get it odds are jails, institutions, and death... period...
