Need Information

Hi,
I am currently trying to stop drinking so much and am afraid of just stopping. But I am trying.I have a couple glasses of wine a night now to try to gradually get myself to stop. My stomach though has been bloated and my right side where my liver is is more pronounced than the other side and I just feel like my stomach is full and fat all the time. Is that just from being bloated or is it serious. I am going to the doctor but I always keep saying I am only 32 and nothing can be wrong with my liver already. I have drank since I was young but only moderately until 2 years ago. I know you cant give me medical advice but has anyone ever had there stomach get bigger due to the alchohol? Thank you.
Hi Casey,
Welcome to the board!!
I got bloated from all the beer I drank!
I also have a crook liver, my doc told me when I was 31 that if I didnt stop drinking dont expect to see 40! I did stop for 6 mths back then, and my liver repaired itself, so I thought well why not drink again!
Big silly mistake, 3 yrs ago my liver was back to buggared agian, 12 times over the medical limits that it should have been,
But I didnt tell anyone about it and kept drinking, another big silly mistake on my behalf,
I used to get gout so bad I couldnt get out of bed for days, this is all due to my alcohol consumption, liver etc.
I havent had a drink in over 16 mths now, I have got to get regular blood test,s for my liver function results every 2 mths, its healing now so every 6 mths now thank god! I hate needles, big sook when it comes to that needle thing!
My liver is still 4 times out on what its meant to be, I am over due to get another test, may do it today,
Casey my liver sort of ached, my eyesight went bad, skin was no good either,
You have come to right place to help give up the alcohol. which I highly recomend you do, if you are feeling like you are,
I tried the couple of beers, but didnt work for me, if I had 24 beers in the fridge I drank 24 then looked for more, while me ol liver is saying NO MORE MAN!
Keep logging onto this site, there are people here who can give you a lot more advice than me,

Thank you for your reply. I dont know if my liver is bad or if Im just fat, buy I know that I overindulge and try so hard to moderate things and thats all I want to do. I have had fights with my boyfriend whom I love very much, and he drinks also, but mine got way out of hand for a while. I am scared to death of the thought of something being wrong with my liver or anything else, and will just go to the doctor to find out. Did you have symptoms that made you go to the doctor??? I feel as if my right side is a little more swollen than my left and it looks that way also. I would have severe symptoms though if it was really bad though right? Well I appreciate you replying. Alot of people dont understand. I get anxiety and use liquor to relieve that and cannot sleep if I dont drink at night. So I keep doing it....Its a never ending vicios cycle....
Hey Casey,
I had a bit of a aching liver, type thing, And needed to drink to sleep,
Now I can sleep anywhere, and sleep better!
Get down to your doc and get a blood test sorted they will tell you whats wrong,
I used to get gout, which got me to the doc, and then blood tests came back with the liver thing!
Give the alcohol away girl, you must be ready to if you are looking on here, and thats a good first step!!!!!
Life is okay with out it, I know that when I was told that I needed to stop drinking, I said to a mate, whats left for me ? No beer I may as well be dead!
But now I look back and think how silly and narrow minded i was ......

Casey, Take Ginge's suggestion and get to the Doctor, no it is not normal to have a swollen stomach, protusion and achiness in your upper right quadrant of your abdomen...if you have that, which I did, no, it is not normal but only a liver panel (test) can let you and your Doctor know what is going on....I carried on like that for 10 years or more and believe me my health continued to deterioate until I reached the decreased tolerance stage, that could be the end for alcoholics. So, I put down the drink, got active in AA and my liver has regenerated itself pretty much and most days I no longer worry about my health situation...if I was to pick up a drink now it, well I'd be six feet under within a short amount of time. Alcoholism is like slow suicide....
Casey,
When I went to treatment everyone else was gaining weight because of all of the calories in the diet they were feeding us. I however lost 12 pounds from my liver and surrounding areas. It was just weight from loading too much junk into my body for too many years. I think that if you could quit drinking that you would see a change pretty fast. I lost a lot of weight from my face too and I have been hearing about how healthy I look now when I really havent been doing anything different besides not doing the drugs and drinking. I maintain the same weight and feel and look better. I have been clean for 120 days now, so it won't happen overnight.
