Hi,
Thanks for responding to me from the other night. It's day 3 and I'm a little better. I even went to the grocery store this morning and to the bank!!!! What an improvement. I called a friend from the program, who is also a nurse, and told her everything. I met her at an urgent clinic in our area and she came into the doctor's office with me to tell him what was going on. I could hardly drive their yesterday. She suggested to the doc that they give me Catapres patches to help aleviate my symptoms of anxiousness and chills; this patch basically helps with the withdrawal symptoms and is non-narcotic. He also gave me Neuronotin for my pain, which is also non-narcotic, because I am still healing from my two surgeries. So......I am doing better today. I went on the treadmill for 8 minutes this morning. I know it's not much, but it made me feel better.
Thank you for your kind words.....I was really looking forward to hearing from someone. It really helped me more than you know!!!
Take care,
Claudia
Hey Claudia,
No thanks necessary, and all I can say is "wow" -- you really took the bull by the horns. It takes a lot of courage to tell anybody for the first time, much less your doctor -- I'm so glad he/she was supportive and is helping you through the physical withdrawal stage. Dependency is nothing to be ashamed of, although the stigma sure can keep us from seeking and accepting help. I'm really proud of you -- your post really made my day. Wow. . . . M.
