Hi
Is there such a thing as an alcoholics only inpatient program?
Is it common for alcoholics to want to be around others 'like them'?
I am not judging anyone etc nor saying anyone is worse off or better
then another - but a friend of mine has his Masters degree,
a very good job, a loving wife - and a drinking problem. He is an alcoholic.
He is afraid to go into some of the inpatient programs where there most folks
have narcotic addictions and no jobs, there because of a court order,
done jail time - fears of people stealing from you etc.
Since the principles of AA is to share and learn with others - he is fearful
he will not be able to relate to those who have broken the law, don't hold jobs etc.
Anyone know of such a place in NY/NJ area? He is also dealing with depression.
Thanks - Dawn
Im from the pain pill board but wanted to say, there are attorneys, doctors, doctor's spouses that go into treatment. I guess my point is, if your friend feels his IQ and background don't warrant being mixed with everyone else then maybe he should obtain a personal counselor?
