O.d.ing

Hello,
I recently lost my brother from combined drug Poisoning (Heroin and Cocaine).
I found him dead in his trailor actually standing up in a squat like position, hunched over with his head on the floor, and his pants down; as he shot up in the femer artery (groin) area since it was his only place left to shoot up.

I do have questions that perhaps can be answered by seeing or hearing of similar experiences.

1) Did he nod off and die slowly or was it very sudden?
2) There was vomit, and blood from mouth and nose, what would cause this?
3) Did he know he was in trouble, but he couldn't get help?
4) Was it bad dope?
5) He had just gotten out of jail, was his tolerance too low?

Any insight on what likely occured would be appreciate.

It was considered an accident as well.

Thanks,
Buddy
I'm so sorry your brothers life ended this way. My brother is still a active addict I fear this everyday 4 him he's o.d a few times and was saved only because he was not alone when it happend. I saw my step father after a pill overdose he died later in the hospital. I can only tell you MY answers to your questions from my experience: i'm not a medical expert. I have lost two cousions very close to the same way your brother went. 1) Did he nod off and die slowly or was it very sudden? in my experience with my brothers o.d it was very very sudden he never remembers what happend ever after the recovery. With the pill o.d with my step dad it was very dragged out slow death in the hospital he was off on awake till heart shut down.
2) There was vomit, and blood from mouth and nose, what would cause this? My brother has vomited and lost bowel control during a o.d. I think vomit is the natural way the body is trying to rid the poison i've shot up and vomited it's a natural body rejection reaction. The blood i'm just not sure why that happens.
3) Did he know he was in trouble, but he couldn't get help? Honestly I think it was fast he had no reaction time.
4) Was it bad dope? if they ran a screen on his blood that will be your answer it will show what was used the quility of the drugs. Without a test it would only be a prue quess if it was bad.
5) He had just gotten out of jail, was his tolerance too low? yea after stoping people often try to go back to what they used before SO MANY o.d's happen AFTER BEING clean for a while "so unfair so sad".

I wish i had some words of comfot to help you more.

Sounds like he had a pretty clean system if he just got out. Being he was found in that positon tells me he that he went out quick, otherwise he would have tried to get up and get himself together a little.

ITs hard to say if someone was there what wouldve happened, but if someone were there they would have had to act pretty damn fast. Sometimes a shot of narcon is the only thing that will help ,and that only happens if someone calls in a medical emergency with the facts.

Im sorry for your loss ,its a hard thing to find a loved one like that. Rest assurred that there wasnt any suffering and there certainly wasnt anything you could have done

Unfortunetly for some of us that is our destiny
Hoping you find peace

Buddy, mate i really feel for ya,i lost my bro in98 [25yrs],he o.d on booze, coke&methedone&had also been out of prison for just 2mnths,i like you also found him.id say he went out like a light,no time to say hang on,but i suppose were talking diff. drugs coz what did it for my bro was the alcohol&meth.d combined. The other good folk have answerd yer Qs?,im just saying i know exactly what a kick in the balls losing a brother is,so Buddy sorry....all the best at a bad time....Davey
I think Jack is correct, I lost my only Brother to a heroin OD back in Midtown Manhatten in 1978. He had just gotten out of jail as well. His tolerance was low, and we like to think we can handle the dope just like when we went in the joint. I feel for you. My brother (his name was Bruce) was a cool dude. To only live life until you are 24 is pretty sad. I have doubled that , I never thought I would hit 30, but the methadone saved my a**. I go once a month, p/u pills, and stay clean and sober in between, and my life is good. I have a great job, wife, 2 precious little ones, I only wish my brother could be around to enjoy them, It was rough losing him, i never ever got over it, just live with it. Stay strong ,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Zerogirl answered your questions. I just wanted to say I know how you feel. I too have lost a brother due to overdose. He took pain pills and zanax. (a very deadly combination but a lot of people risk it.) My brother died in a jail cell. When he overdosed, my mom called 911 and told them he had taken her prescriptions out of her purse. The cops said he was drunk and took him to jail. My sister won a lawsuit against them, but that doesn't bring my brother back. I miss him every day.
Dearest Buddy:

My condolences my friend,I've lost a few good friends from o.ding, and have saved a whole bunch also.I know it's hard to lose someone you love,to death, let alone to drugs, were here if you need to talk.

1st:With doing heroin and cocaine together in the same shot is dangerous on it's own,but here your bro was just out of jail with a clean system, doing two of the most dangerous drugs there is.We can never know how he died, did he shoot up enjoy the rush from the cocaine then knodded off to heaven, without feeling a thing,or,did the cocaine get him first, was too powerfull that made his heart stop. When you shoot these two drugs together, first you feel the rush from the cocaine then as you get down from the coke the heroin takes affect.I remember when I use to shoot up coke I use to love the rush of being borderline o,ded,I use to use enough to get a wicked buzz, but not enough to o.d,looking back now I was playing god with my life, how sick is that.

2nd:Whenever anyone o.d's there is always vomit or white sudding from the mouth, there is sometimes blood also when an artery, vein,or something bursts.

3rd:Your third ? I can't answer or try to cause we were not there,no-one will ever know.

4th:It could have been bad dope, like it could have been very good dope. When people use the term very good dope it means it was strong and gave a good buzz.

5th:Him being out of jail and being clean sure didn't help in the matter, but like I said before we,you, will never know cause we were not there.

I want to ask you some ?,did they do an autopsy?
Didn't they analize the dope?
I know that when it's a junkie that's involved or a drunk, people just assume it was the drug's/alchool that did them in,but that is what I hate when the cops, society, judges us,cause were someones child, someones brother/sister,we are humain being's with people that worry and love us,just like we love them. They should treat us like one of there families,I would.

Last but not least Buddy sweetheart, please don't ask yourself these questions, cause you'll only drive yourself crazy.
You can't answer these questions and nobody else can, just do your grieving and REMEMBER THE HAPPY TIMES.
You couldn't have done anything for him,you were not there,it was his time, and just tell yourself that he is in a safe place now and he isn't suffering anymore.

If your ever in need of a friend,I'm here.....
Lots of love Teena xxoxoooxx

P.S If someone you know is having an o.d with heroin, put some water and salt into his seringe(prepare it like you would a hit) and shoot him/her up in the vein, until you get him to a hospital,it's almost the same thing they use in the hospital.
If they are o.d from cocaine, take a few drops of cold water and pour it on his neck, then make them walk, air, into a cold shower, and get him some immediate help.I've used these tecniques a few times and saved a few lives, learned everything from a nurse that worked the streets helping kids on drugs and on the streets.
Hello Buddy,
Just wondering how you were doing today.

Please let us know how your holding up.....
Lots of luv, your friend always Teena
