I came across an amazing book, "The Kite Runner."

You must read this book....it is by far one of the best books I have ever read; it is byKhaled Hosseini and it takes place in Afghanistan.

A MUST read!!

Hey Kerry! I wrote of that book here a year or two ago urging people to read it. I loved it! I am glad to finally know someone else who enjoyed it as much as I did. Gave me a new perspective on the whole illegal alien dilemma.

I haven't been doing so well in that endeavor; I threw up my guts last night from the chantix.

But I am going to retry for Friday; I have to!!

I just love this book; I just got to the part where Amir is in the hospital. I can't believe what we take for granted. Safety, for one!

The place that he and his father move to is where I grew up!! I grew up in Newark, and know all of the places he mentioned.

Way to go, Jane on passing up that lortab. That is so huge!

I am currently reading The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets , by Eva Rica. Nothing like Kite Runner , but a lot of fun nonetheless.

Good girl for giving it another try. I hope it works out for you as well as it did Atlas. She has 3 weeks!

"The Secret Life of Bees" is supposed to be really good also. Have you read that one?

I fininshed the kite runner; it was just amazing. He is an excellent writer!

Yep, and her other book, The Mermaid Chair , which isn't quite as good, but is worth the read.

Thanks for the suggestions Kerry. I'm always looking for a good read. I've nearly finished gods in Alabama by Joshilyn Jackson. Pretty good.

Yes, The Secret Life of Bees is wonderful. Pippin's 6th grade English class read that last year and he groused about it so much, I read it myself to see what all the fuss was about. It's more appropriate for teenage girls than boys, I suppose. But I loved it.

Loved the Secret of Bees. My neice read it and then passed it to me. It was cute. Can't see boys getting into much though...poor Pippin.

The kite runner was 15 dollars....Geeze in paper back no less. Not sure why it was half that price where you are.
I will get it thought, sounds like a great read.

I read the book you recommended Carol and really liked it!

I used to read books all the time,but...i just never have the time these days.I read magazines most of the time,i can do that on the run,short articles,it just fits more into my hectic schedule these days,but i sure do miss immersing myself in a great book.Theres nothing like it.

I tried to pass that desire onto my sons....only my youngest got into it.The other two,doubt they ever read even one book!

Thanklfully my grandchildren seem to love books,there is no doubt that the love of reading is a great gift you can teach a child.(did i read that saying somwhere before?)anyway...its true!~KIM

I found "My Sister's Keeper" am almost half way through. I really should be studying...but this book is so GOOD.

I am nauseated from the chantix right now....yuck. Who wants to smoke when you want to puke??

CO, it was when I doubled it. Try taking your night dose when you go to bed ....WITH FOOD.

I am not giving up.

Now, that poem is by far the best read!!

I must say this chantix is working; the physical part is gone (cravings, bitchiness) but you still need to work on the mental part.

It does, however, make it SO MUCH EASIER.

Now, if I can just get through today without trying to smoke!! When you DO smoke, you can't smoke much; it tastes AWFUL.
