... was yesterday, in case any of you missed it.
Me, I'm grateful that Punxutawney Phil has promised us an early spring. I'm sick to death of winter. Apparently, I have a subconscious fondness for flip-flops, lol, and I'd like to indulge it. I want to ditch my winter duds and sip sweet iced tea in the steamy Southern heat, sweating from every pore and working on my tan.
Any early risers around? Or insomniacs? I can't believe I woke up at my usual 5 a.m. when it's not a school day.
Cheers,
Gina
Morning Gina, I got up early to. I have to work today. Like you I love the heat. I was born in S.C. so give me the south any day over the north. I was watching the news the other day and saw where you guys got snow. They were showing all the car accidents. Funny thing my husband is from Texas and he drives better than me in the snow. I am a big chicken and I have 4 wheel drive go figure. Last month I started tanning I go into the booth and pretend I am in Key West or Hawaii helps with the winter blues alot. Flip flops I think thats all I have in my closet. I love flip flops. I hate having shoes on. I get really screwed when winter comes because I hate buying boots. I think I am the only person in Ct. who still wears flip flops in the middle of winter (LOL) Have a great Sat. Shantel
By the way is that pic of that dog a hotdog? Do you own one? Shantel
Morning Shantell,
Yes, we had a quarter inch of snow the other day and the entire town shut down. No mail, no trash pickup -- which was just as well, since I didn't need a garbage truck careening all over the road. Southern drivers are a riot in bad weather. I remember years ago there was a freak snowstorm in Atlanta (where my in-laws lived at the time) and people abandoned their cars left and right. I talked to an insurance agent there FOUR months after the storm and they were still sorting out whose car was where. LOL
No, I don't have a dachshund. Do you? I have an 80 lb German Shepherd who daily sheds enough hair to knit another dog out of.
Cheers,
Gina

Gina,
The full moon is probably what got you up. Although it's cloudy right now in New York state, the moon was shining brightly at 5:30 a.m. and it was a real beauty.
Watch that tanning honey. No one could tell me about not tanning either because I loved to do so. Now, at 66 and with wrinkles coming on full time, I wish I hadn't. That said, when I visited Florida a few weeks ago, I laid in that sun and it felt SO good. My husband and I are known to go out and sunbathe with jackets around our shoulders when the weather hits around 50 in the springtime. We call it our wine and cheese party time because we bring out those things to celebrate the coming of the sunshine once again. Have a good day.

Gina, LOL about the cars. I have live in Ct. for about 30 years and have also lived in Chicago so I shouldn't be afraid to drive in snow. I think my problem is when I was pregnant with my son I was driving and hit a patch of ice and slid down a hill right into the garde rails. (sp) ever since then and my son is now 12 I get freaked out about driving in the snow. No, I don't have a Dachshund I have a Golden. My mother has a Dachshund and he is nuts. He has attacked the mail lady, he attacked me and I ended up in the emergency room, he attacked my cousin and my brother and the worst was the other day when he attacked my mother. I'm talking he draws blood. The mail lady and I reported it when we were hurt and animal control said one more report of an attack and they would have to put him to sleep so my parents pay off whoever else gets hurt just so they won't report it. He is the smallest dog but he is deadly. My children won't even go into my parents house because they are to afraid of this dog. I'll take my Golden with her shedding any day over one of those dogs. Shantel
Morning Petsmom,
I'm usually pretty careful about sun exposure; I think I've burned three times in my life. Anyway, along with the high cholesterol, tendency to depression, reproductive problems, double-jointedness, and Chinese low-butt, I also inherited good skin. There had to be some upside to the genetic crap shoot. LOL
Boy, I'd like to be on the Outer Banks right now, watching the sun rise. But I have three teenage boys to supervise at the mall today. My son is so annoyed that I won't let them go alone, but he's never been shopping by himself before and I don't know that I trust the boys he's going with. I told him I'd wear dark glasses and hang back ten feet.
Have a good day,

Shantell,
I didn't say anything about dachshunds, because I wasn't sure if you owned one, LOL. But yes, I've heard they can be neurotic and uncontrollable. I'd take a Golden any day, too. They're such sweet dogs. I've heard that they instinctively refuse to bite down (makes sense, I suppose, given what they were bred for).
I remember you said you lived in Oak Park once. My boys were born in Evanston.

Morning Michelle.
Yes, it does feel a little bit like we skipped a day. Maybe it's because most of yesterday's threads have been wiped and we're re-living Groundhog Day. OMG, can you imagine? You're stuck on this board until you get it right. LMAO
FY!!!
Gina
And three became two and is now one. You were far too generous, my dear.

Labs are wonderful dogs, and I adore chocolate in any form. (But anything that goes after my shoes is in for the chop.)
LOL, I see you've mastered the art of posting pictures.

Gina, I went to school in Oak Park. My sister still lives in Elgin. She is a school teacher. I loved it there but the winters were to cold for me. Shantel

FY!!! Yahoo keeps giving us the boot! I had to go and get cracking on making food for the party. I will look for you later. Please pray for me.

I hated every minute of the time I spent in the Midwest. I went to U of I in Champaign for grad school and I've never been so cold in my life. One night there was a wind chill of 80 below and I had to use a pay phone. By the time I'd dialed seven numbers I couldn't feel my hand.
I did enjoy the long summer evenings though. That's one advantage to living in the North. (Of course, there're the winter days when the light goes at about 3:30.) Not a place for someone with SAD to live.
