O/t Lunar Eclipse

I don't know if any of you were able to see the eclipse tonight, at moonrise, but it was really beautiful.

I hope some of you got to "look up"....!

Peace to the peeps.

Sarah
Sarah,

We saw it here. I've never seen a total lunar eclipse before. It was magnificent and a little eerie (the bats flying around added to the experience, lol).

"Blood on the moon, trouble not far behind."

Love,
Gina
Gina:

Hey!

Bats? Fantastic!

What is your quote from? I am thinking of a line from something, I cannot remember for the life of me...but the quote I am remembering is: "The moon is turning and red"...

Is it a line of poetry??? A line from a Nostradamus quatrain?

Did your boys get to see the eclipse too? I got my 13 year old nephew outside to see it!

S.

The boys did get to see it. In fact, they were the ones who told me it was happening, so that I saw it at all, I owe to them. We went up to the meadow and tried to spook each other out. (I kept my hood up -- bats I'm not so crazy about.)

LOL, "Blood on the moon..." Nothing so elevated as poetry. It's a line from "Practical Magic," (Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Stockard Channing, and Dianne Wiest). Novel by Alice Hoffman. Book's better but the movie is fun, too. Total chick flick. The screenplay's by the same person who did "A Beautiful Mind," but the name escapes me. Akiva something?

What did your nephew think of the eclipse?
I forgot about that book! It was a wonderful book, and I enjoyed the movie too!
I LOVE Dianne Wiest!

I cannot for the life of me remember where the hell that line I am hearing in my head comes from...oh well, past life perhaps??? hahaha

My nephew was delighted because he clipped the notice from the paper, and witnessed it, so he can use it for extra credit in his Science class!

Here in Louisiana, mosquitos = death, so we are learning to love our grey bats!
We have plenty of mosquitoes here, too, and we've put five bat houses up around the pond. I appreciate their work, but I don't want to get intimate with them. I had just washed my hair, LOL. (Bats getting into hair is an old wives' tale, but hey, I'm an old wife.)
We have a small war going on among a group of old college buddies: The Gray Bat Society vs. The Purple Martin Society.

We are constantly sending letters and hand made propaganda back and forth as to which one has the best mosquito eradication properties. This has all started since our Mosquito Abatement Department was found to have been spraying the city limits with nothing more than water...Kick back coming from the Chemical Companies....(typical Louisiana politics), fake invoices, etc. Now there is a class action suit among many who got ill with the arbovirus stuff...

Then there is the gonzo hippies fighting over bats and swallows!

I thought bird poo in your hair was a sign of very good luck? Wait, bats aren't birds are they?
Hi sweety, I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile I've been very busy. I'm just fine (read post). I hope all is well with you.
Love, Gina
oh wow, lotta good this does me. lol.

there will be another on August 28th of this year, but i am not sure if it will be easy to see in the states. google it, check it out, and put it on your calendar! that would be a treat for kaylin!

have a good one...sarah
Morning Sarah,

So are you an advocate of bats or martins? (The purple martins sound pretty.)

Bat poo in my hair? Please, let's not even go there... LOL

Love,
Gina
Hey Gina!

Sorry, I didn't see your post until just now...got interrupted this morning, and never got back!

Okay, no more talk of bat poo....sorry! Purple Martins are beautiful...they are swallows....of which there are many...we have a lot of purple martins and barn swallows here and they eat many, many, many mosquitos!

I have a purple martin house in my yard...but I belong to the gray bat society...and I didn't capitalize those words because we are not affiliated with any "official" society that may exist...wouldn't want to tarnish any reputations here!

Gray bats are endangered, so we just put up houses where we can....trying to make room for them to return in numbers! They also eat many mosquitos!

This is just one of many things this group does to antagonize one another...we also have been known to list one another's cars in the want ads for very low prices so that person has to field a lot of phone calls!

I hope you are having a good day! I have to get back into the swing soon, so I am really enjoying my down time!

Sarah
Sarah, I love to sit outside in the late afternoon and watch the purple martins, part of our creek runs underneath the road and there are martin nests all over the place. We also get treated to see the bats when the sun is going down, one of these days we will have houses for both. Also gotta love the bluebirds!

Sad that Dylan and I missed the eclipse.
Awwww...I am sorry you missed it too.

Mark your calendar for August 28th....okay?

There are plans on the internet for building both types of houses. The gray bat houses are really easy, you can make those from scraps!

The purple martins are a little more fussy! hahahaha, and they have to have a lot of open space to fly into. There is a house on the river, south of Forsythe, on the Monroe side that has soooooooo many purple martin houses right on the riverbank....you cannot even see where the people live...it is so beautiful there at sunset, and the birds are very busy!

There is an old grain elevator, made of brick on the river directly across from Lazarre Park.....TONS of bats in there!

I bet where you live is gorgeous!
GINA (slavenomore)!!!

Sorry...I didn't see you!!!!!! Hey there girl! How are you? You sound really good and I am so glad you checked in!

I have been posting a little lately....had some days off from school, but going back next week....(yuck). This is my last quarter though! Whew!

Got a big move in my future, so there won't be any rest for me!

That is sheer genius, ROFLMAO!!!
I didn't get to see it Sarah....but wanted to say hey. Hey! lol. xxxooo
Gina:

Good Morning!

That one is mild...(lmao). We tend to do some strange things to one another within a fairly small group of people.

We have been known to dress statuary in different "outfits", place the occasional mannequin in and around peoples lives...back seats of parked cars, sitting on bicycles hitched to the front of businesses, laying in driveways, etc.

We've also snuck into people's homes and place wrapped gifts under their Christmas trees so that Christmas morning is "extra" special. (They never see that one coming...everyone loves a Christmas present!).

It is all good natured fun...nothing too harmful, and it keeps things light! I am blessed with really good friends!

Hope you can use some of these yourself...start a little "love fight" action in your neck of the woods!
