Oh This Is Not Good....

I had a terrible and I mean terrible itch that I just had to scratch! Can you guess where? heeeeheeee

My ankle of course! I have been sticking everything from wooden spoons to chopsticks down there and the relief was so amazing.

I am suddenly feeling so claustrophobic in this cast so I got the heavy duty scissors and started cutting...I didn't get to far but far enough to loosen it. I swear if I could get it off I would.

Problem now is that its really loose and now my ankle hurts...what should I do??? I think I should go to the clinic and have them cut the rest of it off. It doesn't have the same support as it did, obviously..so now I don't want to injure it further.

The cast is to come off next Thursday....I can't wait that long...now what? Go or get used to it for a few days...will the clinic even cut it off...I guess I should call.
Go to the clinic and have them finish what you started. They probably will put you in a soft cast for the time being so that you don't damage it any further. Silly girl. Can't blame you though...I've never had a cast but I can only imagine. My son used to scratch his itches with a coat hanger...ouch.
I know...silly is an understatement....uuuhhhh can we say down right stupid!!!

Trust me I have been working on the "patience" thing...I thought I was doing really good up until an hour ago:)
KeeKee,

Nothing worse than an itch you can't scratch lol....

I agree that you will probably need a "soft cast" for a while...My older sister went nuts when she broke her leg...and yep she used the coat hanger trick, and fly swatter handle...anything to get at that itch!

Jan
You will need a Hoveround
Patience? What's that? Give me a definition....lol
Jan! OMG...it hasn't been that bad up until last night is when the itching started!! The nurse specifically told me not to put anything sharper than my elbow down there because of infection!! It hot here and humid.....I know my skin is so flaky big pieces of my tan were coming up!! LOL

Yeah....people really underestimate the satisfaction you get from scratching and itch!!! heeeheeee
Ok, there's a visual I could have gone my whole life without knowing....
Hoveround...lol...oh trust me I have picked up the phone more than a few times over the past few weeks...actually I did go to Kmart once and they have these little riding carts.....it was great but it only went 1/3 mile per hour.

I did do some damage in my wake as my crutches were knocking things of shelves and whacking small children upside there heads...it really was a humiliating experience.

Yeah I am sorry...hope you had dinner already! You could have a tan steak!! Yummy!!
Ooooooh I forgot about that peeling skin Ewwwww LOL...

Make sure you stay off it KeeKee. Can you wrap it with a support Ace Bandage til you get to the clinic....after you are done itching and peeling I mean? <<eg>>

I feel for you,

Jan
Thanks Jan...I don't think that there is much I can do..I should slip out to the clinic before husbutt gets home...he is gonna be mad at me...lol....he just doesn't understand why I do these things!! LOL

I swear if I had something sharper I would go for it...I thought about hobbling to the neighbors...he has this garage packed with god knows what in there....walls and walls of tools and stuff...I am sure he has a hack saw <beg>
You on one of those little scooter things...

I would pay big money to see that
Hey Kee,

A One eighty grit emory boarf (manicurists) works REAL well,,,Just be careful and don't itch too hard...take your new skin off! But I get that winter itch and my girls freak out but my legs come out so smooth and then lotion them up...Remember don't go too hard though....

Nitey Nite....I know you have several more hours up but I am an old lady and need my beauty sleep...

Be careful KeeKee

edit to say: Dan one of those hoverrounds in in my near future, not funny though my family seems to think so....hey I gotta use what work right?
Oh trust me Danny...my hubby was mortified!

Hmmmm Jan, I never thought of that. I am hoping to get this %^$#@(*& thing off and I will be treating my leg as if it were a new born baby....LOL..can we say exfoliate!!!!

Wish me luck! One more bonehead thing to add to my list for today!!!
Man, Kee, dont know what to say.......

I guess if I could itch it for you I would :) lol did I say that.

Hoping your next appt is a good one, and its time to take that thing off, poor girl.

Awww now that's friendship!! Baby you can scratch my itch anytime!

Jodi...I seriously don't think that I will make it to the next appointment...I want it off!!!
Alright, Kee, time to get the circular saw out...............I a fairly steady with it though my hands sometimes are a little shaky *beg* lol, God I was picturing that in my mind, how scary.......

If I were there I would be your partner in crime Baby that thing would come off TONIGHT. :)

Oh wait idea: use the opposite side of the flyswatter to itch...........ewwwwwwwwwwwww

I am Gonna have some nice dreams tonight I am betting. lol

LMAO....I am getting a visual here! And its not good! I hold the leg you hold the saw...don't forget we would need protective eyewear! Ah maybe you hold the leg and I hold the saw...LOL

Its coming off tonight...I will really baby it. My appointment is on Thursday and he said that I probably wouldn't have to wear the boot. He could barely see the fracture anymore.

I am doing a good job of talking myself into this right! heeeeheeee

I will get a tensor bandage and wrap it up real tight...whats 6 days early? Not that much....right?

I mean I its not like I am going to go rollerblading.....maybe a little sky diving but the rollerblading..that just to dangerous!

At least with the old plaster casts that you used get back in the old school days you could soak em off...did that once or twice...but hey I was a kid <eg>

These fiberglass ones they are tough!!
Can you put a Hover round on roller blades???

LOL

I've never had to wear a cast and can only imagine how itchy it would get. I broke my index finger years ago playing softball and my baby kicked it when I was changing diapers...owwwiee...needless to say my index finger is really ugly. I would never make it as a proctologist!

Kee Kee, don't wrap it too tight, don't want to cut off the circulation....

LMAO....oh my Janet...fingers and toes are actually the worst! They can't cast them...so they are so vulnerable...this I also know from experience..HA HA..ok not funny. The pain is horrible and immediate.

The toes on my other foot are in really bad shape for some unknown reason they have been smashed, banged and stubbed continually for the past 5 weeks....it really is insane.

Thats a good point about the bandage...thing is that they don't feel very tight until you see your appendages purple and blue!

Well I have a situation now...its not quiet on and its not quiet off.

My Doc would not be impressed. I was there yesterday..begging for an appointment. He had a plane to catch! Yeah I have heard all the excuse now! So what I didn't have an appointment....LOL....he has never had a cast...I asked him, he said only in med school for practise...and for 10 minutes. It should be pre requisite that they wear one for an entire month so they understand the urgency of those last moment appointments....plane...shmane!
