Hi, I have been cruising this board for a couple of months. This is my first time posting. I am in recovery from an addiction to opiates (any kind of pain pill). This board has been so helpfull with everyone's great advice especially about the withdrawal symptons. It is so helpfull just knowing that I am not alone in this battle. I am involved also in a 12 step recovery program which has been wonderfull and I also try to go to as many outside NA meetings that I can get to.
August your postings are so wonderfull and insightfull. I have such admiration and empathy for you. There has been so much cancer in our family (father, mother, 3 sisters and 3 brothers). Apparently we have a mutant gene. I just want to say that you are in my prayers. Your postings are so eloquent that I was not surprised that you are a lawyer.
Anyway, good luck to all of us. We can defeat this one hour, one day at a time.
Sharon

Guest, thanks for your kind words. I'm trying, like everyone else, but still just taking an hour at a time. I am still so ashamed of my actions. My addiction was so out of control. Today I am still dealing with depression and the cravings. Hope how soon these feelings will go away. My phychiatrist tells me at least 8 months to 1 year before the depression will get better so I will have to stay on the Paxil for at least that long. The depression is part of the withdrawal from the opiates. When you're on Opiates your body quits making Serotonin and Dopamine because the Opiates are doing that for you, so when you're off the Opiates you have no natural Serotonin or Dopamine, that's why you need an antidepressant to help. Sorry I'm going on for so long, just wanted to say thanks and I'm praying for everyone on this board.
