Ot..omg I Need Advice!!!

Hey there:

I, the Mother of 3 sons have sat here and studied this until my eyes are hurting. My 2 sons now 23 and 31 - that was never was a problem b/c of the age difference and now 31 yr old married, too. My oldest son was only 19 months older than middle son but he died in a car accident at almost 19 yrs oldso that could have been aproblem.

The only thing that happened before (kind of close) that b/c it concerned me with their ages being so close was my middle son took a girl to the middle school prom (which I know doesn't sound like a big deal to some, but just remember when you were that age) they ended up being buddies, she would even come over and cook supper for me - wonderful girl - they all stayed friends and then my oldest started dating her when he started driving, dated a frew months - a long time at that age, I could tell my middle son and Kelly were still just good friends so no problem. we still lve to see her.

Kelly did call for my son's # and my husband gave it to her the night my son had his 1st date with his now wife - funny how life works - I asked him about it later, I thought she was just calling as a friend but no, she was asking him out and he told her that he already had plans. I love my d-in-law, she is a keeper but still have the 23 yr old un-married, he has dated a 29 yr old woman, his Daddy loved it (that's my boy) and I just had to act like she was another "girl" I wanted to say that she and I may have more in common BUT I knew better.

I really think the 17 yr old should talk with his brother. I never liked to get in the middle of their business mostly during those years. One may think you are pulling for the other one more. You can't make him, I would just suggest " have you mentioned to your brother that (her name) and you are now more than friends?"

Good luck. I know none of us want our children fighting and mostly not over another girl or boy.

Love, Jean
Dayum, it took me a sec to figure out what a dayum B.O.B. was..........Chit I thought it was a bring your own bottle at first.......I'm having a platinum moment. Well, not really, but i don't want to trigger anyone. Hell girl, you don't play around when you get a shot. They won't give you one here unless you have someone to drive you home, not even phenergan by itself much less with the demerol. Now Torodol is another story. Do you live in the states? Just wondering. What is your first name too, your screen name is tooo dayum long for me to address you by........Thanks......you made me laugh.
Okay call me Krazi for short.been here for about amonth now.............
Oh I get a shot but always have to take someone with me.thank goodnes or I would have been there by myself.............
I think I am jsut going Krazi cuz I am not ready to deal with this kind of ch** as I told my hun tonight.............he tells me they are brothers and need to work it out....but I have seen where a girl came between my hun and his broher..don't want it to happen here with my boys
Make sence ???
B.O.B means

battery operated boyfriend......LMAO sorry just had to make some laugh tonight...................
Dayum Krazi, you are crazy.......lmao......... I knew what a BOB was, last night I was just having a duh moment. God, I hate to address you by Krazi but you told me to, so that is what I'm calling you......lmao.

Girl, I don't have a clue as to how you went c/t off of methadone. Hopefully I don't have you confused with someone else here as I thought that is what I read in your poop thread. You go girl. Hang in there, you'll make it, I'm sure. Have a great day.
Well I knew what B.O.B. was and I am LMAO at yall.

Pam, fyi, when the ER gives me IV Torodal/Phenagren, It does make me a little sleepy, because they can only give 30mg through the veins, and we all know it hits our system faster, but when I am at home, I half the Phenagran 'bullet', (doctor said I could do this) and I get 60 mg of Torodal, then I am good to go, I do not get sleepy at all.

One time the ER doctor who knows me, gave me 60 mg IV, the nurse about died, and said something to him, he said; ' the child just took imitrex and had an allergic reaction, ( take a migraine and magnify it 100 times, that is what imitrex did to me), |I know what I am doing'.
There are exceptions to the rule, he is also a migraine specialist. Not something he does on a routine bases (60 mg IV) ...

He also told me something I didn't know, that certain AD will increase the effects of Torodal and the ' bullet'. Prozac being one of them.

Brook
Dang, I've never had phenergan IV, I bet that chit hurts. It is bad enough getting it in the ole rump er roo....... Usually I get 50 to 75 mg IM and that is some hot chit........Ewwwwwww, it hurts but it does knock me out cold if I don't fight it. The last time I got some, I fought it like a dog and was walking into door frames and walls..... My oldest son was rolling laughing and telling me to get my behind in the bed. I was just trying to smoke one more ciggarrette...... Yeah, right. Finally, my husband picked my scrawny arse up and put me in the bed and out I went. Yeah, I can't take the Imitrex either, I don't know what is up with that one. I have a girlfriend that eats them like M&M's and her head still hurts. Guess you can tell by that last sentence that she gets them in pill form. One time when I got a shot of Imitrex, I had a bad reaction to it and they had to give me two other shots of God only knows what to conteract it. I hope that made sense. Anyhow, they immediately shipped me out to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida right after they got me stabelized that day. That was a beeooootttcchhh. I still go back to Shands about 3-4 times a year and I guess that I should be talking to my local doctor who works in conjunction with my doctors at Shands about a follow up visit in Gainseville. My doctor jumped my arse and told me to get over this addiction chit and to take my dayum meds because I needed them. I just can't accept that one though, there has got to be another alternative. Well, hubby is already in a real chitty mood. I knew his mood was too good to be true Friday night and Saturday, so now I've got to go and deal with him. Great, just what I wanted to deal with today. Sorry that I wrote a freaking book on this post. Please forgive me. Have a good one.
Spam,

Get the suppositories, for home use. No way would I get a shot in my butt of that, stings way too much... but not as bad when they push it in the IV. Stings but not for long when they push into the viens in my hand. I have tiny veins and hard to find.

A nurse told me to tell those trying to find a vein, to use a BP cuff, she did that when I had sinus surgery, it popped right up. Great advise...........(look gina).............lol.........

The ER Doctor is the one that suggested both, being I projectile when I get a migraine, do not want to dehydrate.

Brook
Well Brook, I've had Torodol IV before and they have to push it really slow or it will blow the vein. Had that happen too and you talk about hurting. Dayum, I can't believe the phenergan doesn't hurt that bad IV. Guess I'll have to give it a whirl next time I need some. Yeah, I'm a projectile too when I get migraines, so I know what you mean about getting dehydrated. Well, my day started off good and now it has gone to chit. Do you have an extra bedroom that I could come and live in? Yeah, it is that bad here right now and doesn't look like it's going to improve anytime soon, if ever. Go figure. Talk soon.
hey gals,

just jumping in, cause i have had probs with migraines in the past too, had phenergan and torridol but never in the vein ouch, always got mine in the booty. but the thing is my dr started me on almost a year ago Topomax its for migraine prevention and it works really well for me, at first i was taking a blood pressure med to go along with it but i stopped that one after the 1st month and just take the topomax and i havent had a debilitating migraine since.

terrianne
Hey Terrianne

In the ER they start an IV, then push both meds thru that little hole, so you can't feel it, if it is started anywhere but the hand. Just the start of the IV itself hurts while trying to push the needle far into the vein.
At home I get the shot and use the suppository.

I have been on Topamax as well, my husband and I called it DOPAmax, because it compromised my cognitive skills, and that was at 25 mg. Brought this side effect to my Doctors attention, she said it can be a side effect.

She weaned me off of it.

I am taking Zebeta, 5 mg at night, and that helps. (beta-blocker)

Others I know on it had no problem taking Topamax. They are on 50 mg.
Hey Terrianne and Brook, yeah, I know someone that took Topomax for migraines and she called it Dopomax too. It made her loopy and made her nose tingle all day. She finally weened off of it and is now on a blood pressure med and some allergy meds, not sure just exactly what they are called. Anyhow, it might not hurt for me to give it a whirl, I may not have any problems with it like others have. Thanks for the info.
brook, pam

yeah i had a lil side effects for the 1st month, nothing to bothersome and i had to be weined up from 25 mg to 59 to 75 to 100mg and thats what i am on now.
yeah its hard trying to find what works for you. i know they are using blood pressure neds now too to help on preventatives. just keep trying and dont give up. sometimes you have to work through the side effects if they arent too dibilitating.

terrianne
Thanks Terrianne, you are really sweet and you are right on with the meds. Have a great day.
