Our Greatest Fear

a dear friend of mine just contacted me. she lives outside of the detroit area and is blessed to be able to attend church services where marianne williamson preaches. today she got an autographed copy to me of marianne's latest book. marianne williamson happens to be one of my favorite spiritual advisors.

i am reminded of the first mw book i read a return to love and this passage, which has been quoted by many. the book was written in 1992 and as a matter of fact, nelson madela used it in his inaugural speech in 1994.

i just wanted to share this here.

________

Our greatest fear

Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate,
but that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
That was beautiful Sammy, so nice of you to share it. Much love, Kat
