I am an addict and my husband and addcit/alcoholic. There has to be a point where you just have to face the fact you can't control what another person does. I can't control him no more than he could stop me from using (if I wanted). If you told him your sorry and took him back then you would be telling him it is okay for you to drink and be abusive. It is NOT okay !
My advice to you is up yourself before him.
I am married and putting me before my husband has been hard,but had to be done.
You are right, it's just hard.
