Please Help(again)

I started to feel crappy about 6...the dr. said I could take 2 mgs. since I started at 1 a.m...I was already nauseated....I vomited. I know this can be a side effect...how do you know if it's from too little or too much? Thanks. SP.S. Plus I have a headache
Hi Sharon,

Its ok...relax, everything you are describing is "normal". I would go ahead and take 2mgs more because you did start late yesterday. 2mg should hold you until tomorrow and then you should be able to take 8mgs in the morning and be ok until the following morning.

I never had any side effects at all...some say the first few days they did get headaches but went away within days.

I slept like a baby...in fact the only side effect I deal with is constipation. I don't like it but I deal with it.

Remember you are still in the induction phase...more often in the beginning you take a little more but it is very easy to cut back and settle at a lower dose.

Usually 8mgs is plenty...I was on 12 for about 3 1/2 months...it was very easy to cut back to 8.

Take 2mgs more relax and get a good nights sleep. I have said in a earlier post I take my meds one time first thing in the morning and then I am completely done thinking about it for the day. If you don't think about it then you know you are at the right dose. It may take 3 or 4 days for you to settle on that. Listen to you body.

You are doing great. Big hugs....Kerri
I'd like to pitch in but dont know the whole story, if you think its none of my business I'll butt out, no offense taken. Regardless you will be in my prayers. - Chris
S...Kee is right it is a normal side effect.Honest, your body is adjusting to a new thing.also as I wrote to you, with me,whenever I get a new script from the pharmacy,it does give me yuck tummy.Even after 2 years.
I agree with Kee,take 2mgs,& start your 8mg dose tomarrow.I also know with me the first week,I did have moments of feeling????Off,not too bad but not feeling right.when those times hit Id lay down for 1/2 hr & it seem to help.

Huny try to remember,it will take you time, your body & mind time to adjust.at least it did with me.When I started Sub I was on a very high dose(24mg)& I was on that for awhile.Im not saying that dose will be what holds you but for me thats what I needed. Its an adjustment & I feel all your fears & concerns are normal.Heck I know I kept posting so much before & right after I started because it was all new to me.

Have you talked with the Dr?Has he answered whatever questions you have?
molly

Sorry wanted to add, even now that Im finally down to 8mg I still(out of habit?)split it
4mg in the am 4 in late afternoon.Kee is right.Take the 2mgs,maybe a nice relaxing bath, get a good nights rest & keep in mind what you are feeling, thinking worrying & concerned about is normal & after the induction part when you level off,you WILL(I promise)feel better
molly
Hi Sahron,im just reading about your ordeal and that you are finally on the sub.Good for you!

Im no Dr,and im only giving my opinion.I had no side effects either from the sub,but nausea, and vomitiing, makes me thing you've taken too much to start with(though i know your Dr said take 8 or whatever the amount was)I feel sometime s the prescrive too much.If youre feeling crappy now,i agree with Keekee,go ahead and take 2 mg now,it will help.

The thing "i" and im only giving my opinion...and im not a dr...i would only take 4 mg in the morning then 4 again later when you feel you need it.8 mg at one time,to start with,is alot,Again,IMO.You can always add more, you cant take any away. You know what i mean.

I've always taken less than prescribed,i think if i took more,i too would be nauseaus, and vomitting.

The sub is most definitly going to help once you get the dose right for you,a little too much,a little not enough, can make a difference.

Go ahead and take the two,i think it will help, and tomorrow, take half the dose you did this morning, see what happens, good luck~KIM

Molly you and i were typing at the same time,i agree,if she splits it,4 and 4,it might go better for her.
Hey Kimber, yes that was how I always did it with the Sub,even at 24mgs.I took part in the am part in the pm.

I do know as most of us do that once (like you said)she find the leveled dose, she will feel so much better.

I dont know if shes at too much,I mean as Ive said 24 was my holding dose,
As you know so many thought that was way too high but I knew how I felt.

Ill be around in the morning after my appt & look forward to catching up with all
Love to all
molly
I am sorry but this is so wrong. take 2mg and then take 8mg tomorrow? If you feel that sick Sharon go to the hospital ER--

This is why you your monitored in the first 24 -48 hrs--most people are in the hospital until stable. Its dangerous and all you guys prescribing 8mg tom?m?

Someone who has how much xanax in there system?

where do you get this from.? That's wrong to take 8mg in one dose according to a top addiction specialist. Its not logical and dangerous with xanax in the system.

I am sorry Sharon is sick but she has health issues more than one and should be in a hospital.

Good night

Jeff
Again I need to ask...S did he get back ahold of you?

Jeff...Im sorry but dont you think you MAY be freaking her out a bit????

If you read the post Kee Kim & I ALL suggested half the dose in the morning to see how she feels
Jeff,i personally dont believe she should take 8 in the morning, but 4 and see how it goes.Everyone reacts a little bit differently.I think the first dose was a bit toto much.

If shes feeling like crap now,it leads me to believe she could use the 2 mg more, and her dr has approved this.

Sharon,i hope youre feeling a little better now?~KIM

Again Molly,we're posting at the same time, nice seeing you on in the evening.Hope all is well with you.

Im so happy that sharond has gotten the sub,she will get the dosing correct real soon and will begin enjoying the relief that it gives!
I agree Jeff.

(I will now butt out of this one)
Jeff,

Sharon doesn't have xanax in her system today. She had .5mg yesterday morning and took her first 2mg of sub @ 1:00am.

She has been tirating up...to find the dose suitable to her body. Going up at 2mg increments is perfectly normal. If it is 8mgs that she will settle on then it is ok to take it one time in the morning if she wants.

Doesn't matter if you are on 8mgs of sub and take 4mgs twice a day or the 8mgs one time.

I have a very educated addiction specialist and he told me it is ok to take your daily dose all at once. No need to F around with pills all day. Take it get it over with and get on with your life.

Sharon, call your Doctor honey to get his advice. I am guessing that since your last dose was very early this morning you will be fine taking 2mgs, get a good night sleep and see how you feel in the morning.

You must be getting some indication if you are feeling ok....besides the nausea and headache which are side effects that go away after a few days. I never had any side effects so I don't know about that.

Are you feeling w/d edgy/sick? or a different kind of sick?
LOL 4 and see how it goes. Kim its dangerous. Sharon has other health issues and belongs with her doctor until she is stable. Usually it takes 2-3 days.

She also to my knowledge is taking xanax? The doctor hopefully will switch ASAP to a long lasting benzo like Valium or I like cause it worked for me Klonopin.

Kim Its dangerous to take short acting benzo with the wrong sub dose and your not a 100% healthy to begin with.

This is the truth Kim. Were all different. How come my brother 2 yrs go almost died drinking some wine with a 20 mg oxy. I ate 10 times the amount out drank him and took a handful of xanax for 2yrs straight? give or take a month or two.

He ended up basically in a O.D -Me Just kept eating more and more until the suboxone.

We are all different Kim.

Dangerous crap here-JMO

Jeff
Sharon,

Please call your doctor. If doesn't get back to you, then you've learned something else about what kind of a health care professional he is.

If you feel worse and you don't hear from him, the ER sounds like a good idea to me. We're not doctors and you may just need one now.

Love,
Gina
Ok, I'll butt back in...

Sharon if you stopped taking Xanax (and if you have taken it for a while), you could be going into benzo withdrawal. Same thing Feelgood had happen. Just a thought.
Gina I DO totally agree with you with calling him.Ask him what he thinks, what she should do etc.
I hope more than anything he works out for her(selfish I know)because for me he has helped me so much & really worked with me.I hope he does the same for her.
molly
Kee kee what is she taking to replace the benzo?

Get a good nights sleep? Man I have to leave this discussion. I think Its wrong but its not going to help anybody by me spouting my suboxone theory.

One thing dangerous is the xanax took .5 ? so now she is C/T how that doctor let her walk out with a script not in w/d with xanax and not putting her on a long acting benzo instead?

Come on? None of this is KOSHER--its dangerous

Jeff

P.S and not monitoring her ? for at least the first day??

These doctors are trained to do this.
I know nothing about sub but I gotta agree with Jeff and Danny on this one. Call your doctor or go to the hospital if you are feeling that bad. Shantel
Well good point Danny. Sharon what about the xanax? Have you stopped it completely? Were you taking alot of it? Are you weaning down?

Yes....like I said in my earlier post as well. Its time to call the Doctor. I started on suboxone and I have never taken benzo's for a prolonged period.

I don't know what to say because of the xanax. I assume that your Doc is helping you on that one.

I am assuming that your Doc knows all other meds you are on and how they interact with each other. I know that some do take a small amount of benzo with sub but its always under a doctors supervision. Its usually a very small amount because of the sedative properties in both.

I wanted to add that I have never taken xanax. I took ativan years ago to detox and that was for 7 days.
I totally agree, with the presence of xanax she should have been monitored.(i did not know this)Most Dr's will prescribe the clonazepam preferrably to any other benzo.

Sharon,are you still around,how are you feeling?~KIM
Jeff is right about the benzo strengths...

Valium and Klonopin have relatively long half lifes and are not so dangerous to come off of if addicted. In fact, there are some benzo detox protocols that use valium to detox (wean) off of Xanax. I know, it sounds wrong but really it is not.

Xanax is a benzo on "steroids" so to speak. And its half life is hours, not days..to give you an idea, The half life of Xanax is 6-12 hours, where in Valium is 36 to 200 hours. In addition, Xanax is considerable stronger on a dose by dose basis.

In addition, cold turkey from a benzo addiction is not an option. You have to wean. I know I know..I did it..but it was wrong to do it and I did it on my own without medical monitoring or a doctors help..

I am extremely lucky.
