Hi everyone, im new here and i just wanted to thank everyone for their words of wisdom. It is great to find a site where i feel i can belong. I have looked on other drug websites but the message always seems to be that pot is not really an addictive substance, its the 'hard' stuff you have to worry about. Well the time has come (and this is my first step) of admitting to myself that i have a problem with pot addiction. In fact, it has helped to effectively ruin my life. just writing this is helping in resign myself to the fact that i have a massive problem and im crying as im writing as this is the truth. I've stood up to myself and made the connection - pot is killing me and i am going to start tonight to quit. I cant feel any lower. I'll let you know more when i can but for now this is my first step.
Hey, if you don't mind, I think I will refer to you as "hope," instead of hopeless.
Good luck in your efforts. Let us know how you are doing and whether you would be open to suggestions on how to quit.

good for you. i have come onto this site by accident. my brother (whos 17) is smoking pot every day, we are getting concerned for him. have you any words of wisdom?cjsmth1@tiscali.co.uk
Sadly, there is little that a family can do until an addict admits he has a problem and chooses a path of recovery. I would recommend that you consider looking into Al Anon or Nar Anon to learn how to set limits around inappropriate behavior of the addict and how to avoid enabling him.
Good luck. FWIW, I smoked casually for a year and then got some good stuff one night and was addicted afterward at the age of 16. I smoked addictively until I quit at age 34.
