i am so glad you posted what you did with the dilaudid thread.
i was reading this site yestreday and was quite shocked really, at all the medical info being given out, AND medical mis-information.
i personally thought the mods would not allow that.
the medical mis-information is so dangerous, and the opinions and advice that are cleary not in ones best interest.
some experience, strength and hope and suggestions are fine, but i think the medical 'hard-core' advice needs to be toned down.
this is a recovery site; not a medical site.
i am an ex-nurse; out because of my addiction. but i try to be super careful about how far i go, if i even dare to go, at all in giving medical advice ; because i am NOT a doctor or addictionologist.
i try really hard to encourage people to be safe and seek the help of a doctor.
addiction is acutely serious and an illness we will all have for the rest of our lives. we need to start out in recovery under proper recovery. not bogus advice.
and yes, we cannot compare our detox experiences --- they ARE different for all of us.

miss kate and pm you are so right,some people come on here telling about unheard of and physicaly impossible amounts of narcotics they are takeing,if i'm not mistaken there was some one on here claiming to take 4000mlg of oxycontin a day[IMPOSSIBLE],GURANTEED DEATH,anyhow cancer patients usally max out around the 300mlg a day mark and thats still a very high dosage,so i totally agree with knowing the facts before posting something that might get someone hurt or killed....................vinny.

Thanks for receiving the message in the way it was intended. Everyone wants to sit here and make it out to be some personal attack and it wasn't at all. There is just way too much info that is not accurate being passed around. All it takes is one idiot to get on this site and read one wrong thing and wind up dead. People forget that it's not just addicts who want to be clean who visit here but also people who want ideas on how to get high and get drugs lurk here also.
So I'll stand by what I said even if I'm the only one doing it. Of course our sharing helps the other get through. That's why it is a support group and I understand people come here because they are afraid to go to their doc or just can't. People come here to find out info on what they are going through from someone who has been there. Gosh read my beginning. I did as well. All the info doesn't need to come from a physician. However, people have a variety of circumstances and also a wide range of health problems. So the advice one receives may be totally wrong even if it's good for the majority. We don't know the histories of eachother.
However, that was not my point. My point was the amt of info shared here can be a dangerous thing and this needs to be pointed out so people can act with some awareness.
We aren't just addicts stopping or trying to quit who come here. There are many lurkers here as well looking for all kinds of info. I just think we should be careful.
For those who want to say I persoanlly attacked them. Please my interest is much greater than one person. I care about people's lives. The ones reading who we don't know cuz they don't post. The ones looking for info. It's not up to me to decide who is telling the truth from who isn't. To question all that is simply a waste of my time. I could say lots of opinions I have in regards to a variety of situations and people around here. But who cares?!!! My opinion and a quarter won't even get ya a phone call
So anyway, thanks for hearing the message and true concern in my post. It is something we all need to look at seriously.

Wonder if I can go to the ER and get 6400mg of Demerol or 640mg of Morphine. Heck I've got the tolerance of a horse and I need it after reading some of the garbage on here today.

Maybe I am stating too clearly what a massive amount of medication is being talked about. I probably should have beat around the bush about it more and thrown in a few "honey's and Baby's". Sorry for going off on a tangent there.

No one should read something here and think they can safely take it...that would be crazy...tolerance and ones individual constitution has to be taken into account.
I once too ONE soma and could barely walk, yet Ive read that some used 3 or 4 at a time..........we are all different with different circimstances.

I do not know how many times I need to repeat the same thing which is that my concern is for anyone reading this who might try something even anywhere near what you were taking and the consequences this would have on them and their life.
As for you, I do not want to get into your specific situation. Please stop trying to drag me into it with you. Because I'm simply not going there. I will end up pointing to alot of things which may truly question your use and doses at this time. It a whole different topic which would be very personal. What I was saying is clear and obvious and needed to be expressed. If anyone tries to take what you are talking about on their own they will end up dead. I don't want people to try this.
