well today is day 7 of my 3rd attempt to kick the hydros. it has been a rough 7 days the dr. gave me a gen for librium and they dont work that well 1 does nothing so i have to take 2 for the edge to come off. but me and my wife are both scare i might get addicted to these things . i feel lots better but still edgey i have never been a person that needed something for my nerves until now any suggestions? also how long does the restlessness last. today i feel a little better but yesterday my emotions were really bothering me the depression is rough just i am taking welbutrion for depression i cant tell if it is working or not but i do know this this day is better than the first if i had it all over to do again i would have never took 1 pain pill i have came to far to turn back now so i am trying to keep my head up and keep moving on . drinking plenty of water trying to push this crap out of my system i know it stays in your fat cell a long time but as far as the gi track goes it has a effect on it and i am ready to feel normal again will i ever? any one with advice? thanks
Usually it takes two Librium to work correctly for withdrawals. Just be careful and don't take them for an extended period of time and you should do fine. Once, I had to give my husband the max dose to get him to chill out during withdrawal. It was 300 mgs. but don't try this one........As time goes by, you should be able to start weaning down from two to one and then none and not have any problems. Talk to your doctor if you have any concerns......Be safe and responsible. Also, you didn't mention what milligram your librium was. I think my husbands were 25mg per capsule, but not positive........
Don't take the librium for a long time. If you think opiate withdrawal is bad, benzo withdrawal is worse and can last for months. You will probably feel better in a couple of days but if you take another opiate you will have to go thru this all over again. You might want to keep that in mind next time you get a craving. What are you going to do to stay clean once the withdrawals are done? Are you attending meetings? Therapy?
thanks for the insight i am on 10 mg i am ready to get to the point of being a normal person again but i was told to take it one day at a time every day seems easier. i cant fail this time i do and i loose my family so i am staying positive my wife is my support and my 19 month old daughter is my drive to stay straight. thanks a lot

Wow, that's why I love this board. I learn something new everyday. I had no idea that lithium was a benzo. I thought it was an AD.
Yea..what 12 stepper said. You think hydro are hard to come off of..benzo's are dangerous.

Librium
Pronounced: LIB-ree-um
Generic name: Chlordiazepoxide
Why is this drug prescribed?
Librium is used in the treatment of anxiety disorders. It is also prescribed for short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety, symptoms of withdrawal in acute alcoholism, and anxiety and apprehension before surgery. It belongs to a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines.
Librium is habit-forming and you can become dependent on it. You could experience withdrawal symptoms if you stopped taking it abruptly (See "What side effects may occur?"). Discontinue or change your dose only on advice of your doctor.
Congrats on 7 days.. Take care! Rae

Thanks Rae...ok, so then what it lithium? That must be an antidepressant. I got the two mixed up in my last post. I thought your librium was something that made you dizzy if you stood up too fast.

Lithium is a mood stabilizer used for bi polar. It's some chemical that is missing in the brain in manic depressives. It produces no high and levels should be checked regularly. Wow, sometimes I think I spent WAY too much time studying my PDR.
It's good that you have that information, 12. Might save someone's life someday.
Have a good one...

Your having a blonde day,LOL I think my blonde hair dye has finally aborbed right into my last few brain cells. Yes Librum is the drug listed above. I know it's been around for years and years and helps aid in Alcohol withdrawl. Other than that I don't know anything about it exept it can cause withdrawl and is a benzo.
Now for Lithium is the chemical element with symbol Li and atomic number 3. In the periodic table, it is located in group 1, among the alkali metals. Lithium in its pure form is a soft, silver white metal, that tarnishes and oxidizes very rapidly in air and water. It is the lightest solid element and is primarily used in heat transfer alloys, in batteries and serves as a component in some drugs known as mood stabilizers...
Now as far as equal librum goes yes that means balance.. I just sent you an e-mail I found about that,LOL Go read it and tell me what you think.. Rae
