Question Re:hubby W/d

Hello to Everyone,
I had a quick question. My husband is also getting off of all pain meds. He did not take as much as I did, not at all ;o). But he was on 2 Percocet a day, and Actiq (fentanyl pops) 1 -2 per day. Yesterday was his 3rd day, poor guy, so sick with throwing up and very bad leg aches. Our Dr. prescribed the Actiq for withdrawal, you suck on it for a minute and it helps. Not the entire lollipop, like we use to. I did this when I went off of the Fentanyl Duragesic Patches and it helped with the restless legs. He has to work a 12 hour shift today and HAD to get some sleep. He works Retail. I had no problems, but I went onto Norco for pain. This time we are going off of all meds. Does anyone think this will effect his withdrawal. He doesn't take anything for sleep and he really needed to sleep a little last nigtht. This way he slept about 5 hours. His legs are aching but bearable, but his symptoms are slowly getting better. I don't think it will start all over again. Do you? This is what our Pain Management Dr. told us to do, when w/d's get really bad. As long as you only need it , when you have to. He made it through almost the end of his 3rd day. I can already hear him awake and he drove my daughter to school, so he must be feeling a little better after sleeping. Well thanks for the advice. Take care, Best Wishes
I missed the whole question, I think.. What are you worried about affecting the withdrawls??
best wishes
you know ... i am sooo sorry maybe I am just cranky this morning or PMSing or something and I really dont know the answer to your question only to say that it could restart the w/d for a couple of reasons .... one .. ONE minute.. are you kidding.. !!!!!!!! but who am I and an other thing... that could only prolong the detox of the body and delay the clearing.... but who am I
The question really is... What was your doc thinking.... to get sleep !!!!! to rest there are sleep meds out there for that... even if they are addictive.. ( which I am not condoning...) but fentenyl is 100x more potent than morphine and to give it to lessen the w/d for someone kicking a fentenyl habit?... what is he thinking... that is like giving me hydo's after 3 days of w/d.. when they are almost over cause I need to rest... that is insane... oh lets not forget so I can sleep ...
I am sorry but that makes me mad.... and you and your husband will get mad too if tonight or tomorrow he is back to feeling just as bad as he did at day one because of a stupid doctor..... ( assuming I am not being taken for a ride again by being some line.. no offense but I have been know to do that .. on occasion..)

OH by the way... good luck with that one minute thing... I couldnt do that ...

Best Wishes,

Are you kidding me or yourself or am I missing something in your post? The MD prescribed Fentynl pops (Actiq) for w/d? OMG. I have never heard of such a thing, I am quite frankly astounded. To help him sleep,,,..WTF. It sounds like you have an idiot for a Doctor, as the one you have, certainly knows nothing about drug addiction. Sorry if I sound harsh here, but this is not the way to Recovery. And like Teresa said there are other meds that he can take for sleep that are non-narcotic and non-addictive such as Trazedone. Please, if I have mis-read your post, correct me. An IOP recovery program would help both of you along with attending NA meetings.
sharon..

How are you... can you chat today..?
I miss you.... hope you are welll
