I heard that acid reflux is actually caused by lack of acid in the stomach. The show I saw indicated to drink vinegar for it...

The reason im asking is because ive got it ive been poorly with it sinse i quit pills been to the emergency GP tonite and got to go get chest xrays just wondred if anyone else had experience with this problem.

My sister has it, she gets a prescription for it. She always has heartburn from it. Are starting to have that problem? How are you doing?

Hiya liz im not too good right now hun i have had this persistant dry cough and sickness for as long as ive been off pills its a real nightmere because its causing me to have headaches lack of sleep etc. apart from that im ok hun jackie xxx

Hey Jackie,

So sorry you've been so sick. Have you been to a doctor? Maybe you should go and get checked out, just to make sure it isn't something serious and also maybe it's something they can treat and you won't have to continue to suffer as you are?

Acid reflux is often caused by a hiatus hernia(google for it) I have one and find that Gaviscon is exellent in keeping the discomfort at bay. If you see a Dr he may want to refer you for an endoscopy (camera down your food pipe lol)

Maybe but the problem has to be diagnosed properly because there are other things that can cause these symptoms. The other option is to have a barium meal under xray. This is less uncomfortable but not as clera picture. A hiaus hernia is basically the top of your stomach poping up into the esophagus, so the stomach acid irritates the lining of the esophagus.

Guys, I have acid reflux. A lof of drugs control it. No addicting stuff. Nexium is one. It friggin hurts though...but it can also harm your GI tract..so the sooner you get it checked out the better...

I also saw the infomercial that recommended a tablespoon of vinegar...it can't hurt. The logic is, you don't have ENOUGH acid to digest your food, so gas forms and comes UP the esophagus. The vinegar is acidic and helps.

I missed this thread earlier......I was wondering are you having sinus problems.....My daughter was real bad, we had some xrays done and they found a polyp in one of her sinuses....So we go to the ENT he checks her over and then tells us she is fine but she has acid re-flux..........Apparently the acid could back up and get into your sinuses and cause problems.
Weird huh......She is taking prilosec in the evening instead of the morning like the box says and she has gotten relief and no more sinus infections, thank god.
I hope you find some relief too.

No No...thats not what it is. Whats happens is your stomach muscle is not tight enough. You actually produce acid and it comes back up your e pipe. What you need is an acid reducer. Like Nexium, Zantac or Prilosec. It reduces the acid. I've had it almost 20 years...I take meds for it now...

Actually Danny, I think its your sphincter, yeah you have one there too, that doesnt close properly and allows acid up into your throat. It can cause damage if not treated quickly.

I know a lot of people are on Rx's for acid reflux, and the show I saw was to get people OFF the meds and try natural cures.
I certainly can't preach about this, because I am the poster child for prescription meds, but if a natural cure works, all the better.

wow thx all for your help, i had my gall bladder removed some years ago and it was then they told me i have a hyitus hernia hence prop cause of acid reflux im going up for chest xrays to eliminate nastys then maybe il get he right treatment but il tell you guys one thing im fed up with being constantly exausted once again thx so much for your help its very much appreciated just knowing someone is there is a blessing jackie xxx
