Hi all,
I know this is a pain pill forum and this is regarding withdrawls from booze. So here goes.
I had my last drink on Sat night, it is now lunchtime on Wed for me here in Oz. I'm having that tired achy, foggy restless legs feeling.
I shouldn't be surprised but I am LOL. It is from the booze is it not?
Wendy
Hi Wendy...not sure...I have never a real big issue with booze. Although I have had my fair share of hangovers! I would just like to tell you....congrats on putting down the booze. Are you an alcoholic? I guess you are if you are wondering about this. Is this the first time you have quit alcohol?
Any good for you...its nice to be clean and clear of all mind altering substances!

Wendy, It could be that or for me I was diagnosed with RLS because of a very low iron count. I don't wish RLS on anyone. Alot of people here talk about having RLS while withdrawing I on the other hand have suffered with it for years. Shantel
Did you feel bad all week, since drinking, or just today? Could be a bad hangover....reason number 574 why I don't drink.
Is there a flu bug going around? Everyone I know has been sick with that crap.
Just that you quit drinking and aren't using is so great Wendy. I hope you feel better tomorrow. Get lots of sleep and fluids.

Hi Kee Kee,
Thanks for the response. I've drank nearly every day for the past 20 years and never really thought it was a problem. I abused so many drugs over the years and overcoming that became my major concern.
Since being on sub and attending counselling I've realised this is just another addiction of mine. The hardest to come to terms with for sure because it is so socially acceptable.
My partner does not believe I have a problem, I guess because I'm not a fall down drunk....yetLOL But the way my body is feeling today tells me otherwise.
He said, so how long are you not gonna drink for, I said just for today. Thats about all I can say.
Wendy

Hi Cow girl,
On Saturday night I only had a few drinks and because of that I couldn't fullfill a commitment I made to my daughter, I guess I kind of had an awakening when I couldn't go pick her up and called her a cab. I wasn't drunk by any means but realised my desire to drink was far greater than my responsabilities.
I'm scared but thats not a new emotion.

Well good for you! Are you on suboxone? I didn't know that. Anyway congratulations on saying enough is enough!
Could be it was the sub and alcohol mixed that made you sick. You're not suppose to drink on that stuff....
So glad you've made this realization now...
So glad you've made this realization now...
Cowgirl,
I drank everyday, almost, for 20 yrs even while taking sub. Never got sick but maybe thats just me.
I'm not feeling ill, I feel like I am going thru withdrawls from not drinking. That just makes me realise I really do have an addiction to alcohol.
Good of you to point out that it is not a good idea to mix medication with alcohol.

Well, it very well could be that you are going through some sort of w/d from the alcohol. If you've drank every day for 20 years, it's really possible.
I'm so glad you quit though....just remember, you'll feel better every day so just hang in there.

Don't worry, I hate cats and that includes the taste of them too, I'm sure. lol
It would be hard to have sympathy for you..lol Has the weather been nice lately? It's so gray here. Too much gray.
Everything else ok? Kids?

Hi Wendy...
I wanted to respond to your question....
Those were some of the symptoms I experienced when withdrawing from the alcohol...
The tired & achy seemed to go away after about a week but I didn't get much sleep until around the 3rd week....I had a hard time getting to sleep (fall asleep around 2-3am) but it improved daily and around the 3rd week my sleeping pattern was back to normal....
The fog lingered for awhile but that too improved on a daily basis...
Alcohol is very much a drug and if you have been drinking for 20 years, you're body will crave it and w/d's aren't as severe as the pills were for me, but I do remember them, even 9 years later...lol....
Remember, one day at a time....I'm around hit and miss but I do post over on the alcohol board daily if you ever need to chat....
Take care,
Stacey

Thanks for the reply,
I'm actually feeling pretty good today. I did'nt get a lot of sleep last night but thats to be expected. I'm keeping close to home and focussing on whats right for me.
My partner has been really supportive which is a godsend. I feel like I'm finally taking responsability for myself and not just letting things happen. Like I'm choosing, not just on auto pilot.
It feels good!!
