Quitting Unsucessfully

Hi my name is Mia and i usally post on herion/pain pills. I am doing good in my recovery buy i've decided to give up smoking i'm 21 and smoking for 10 years now my teeth are yellow and it's just gross!!!
I stoped smoking daily about 1 month ago but since i find myself usally smoking when i go out or when i'm w/ a friend who is also trying to quit smoking and we both do good untill we get together. I went from a pack a day to 1 pack a week great acoplishment i know but if i can go 5 days w/o smoking why cant i completly obstain from smoking?
It's a habbit i am so used to and it is more acepted by socity than herion but it is verry hard for me to break the mental addiction. Physical part is nothing i've withdrawled from opiates with no medicine too many times but i cant seem to break the mental addiction.
mia,

hi and welcome to our little corner of the A&R board.

i too was addicted to opiates - 34 years worth. ciggies, in excess of two packs a day for 47 years.

today marked exactly 8 and one half years free of any mind altering substance and 18 months smoke free for me.

it has been my experience that we quit when we're ready and not before.

if you still want to smoke, then smoke and enjoy - there is no point in beating yourself up or feeling guilty (not that you said you did) - you'll quit when you're ready.

ok, i just wanted to say hi.
