Hi Rae,
I dont expect you to be up - I've been up and down all night - cant sleep. Anyway I wanted to make this post directly to you, cause I keep missing you.
When you wrote on another post the other day that you grew up in Hialeah, I almost died!! Thats exactly where I grew up!!( I moved there from NY when I was 7). I always say I'm from Miami because if you say Hialeah, theyre like "where????" - well, actually, when I got older and moved out of my parents and got married, etc. Then I lived ALL OvER Miami, Miami Lakes, Homestead, Perrine, Pembroke Pines, and more (yes, I never stayed in one place for too long)
I was VERY interested in finding out what schools you went to, etc. - I dont know exactly how old you are - Ill be 43 in Feb. Here's the schools I went to in Hialeah: Meadowlane Elementary School, Filer Jr. High School, and Hialeah Senior High School also Hialeah-Miami Lakes (HML) High School. My daughters went to Springview Elem. in Miami Springs and Miami Springs Middle the other to South Hialeah Elem. - then we moved up here to Sebring.
What a small world - isnt it? Please, if you read this today, post and let me know. I've been dying to find out if you know of any of these places.
I also used to hang out at Palm Springs Lanes (bowling alley), Hialeah Speedway (Race Cars), When older, Hialeah Race Track (I love to gamble) - it's so beautiful there with all the pink flamingoes everywhere. We used to go the Longshot Lounge in the Hoiday in across from Westland Mall, hmm.....went to the Diamond Lounge on 12th Ave and 68th Street, also used to go to Lums Hot Dog Place on 49th Street after the races every Sat night. Used to "sneak in" to Big Daddy's across from Kmart on 49th Street - Oh yeah, and then theres all the clubs over towards the airport - through Miami Springs - Level 3 - Hunters Lounge (Miami Springs), Ciscos Cafe on N.W. 36th Street, Victoria Station on 36th Street, Doral Country Club (Rousseaus Lounge) on the golf course at Doral. So many more I can fill the page, but PLEASE write back - it would be really funny if we actually KNEW each other !!!! Sorry to ramble on, but it's so exciting that there might be someody who actually is from Hialeah! Go figure!!!.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Love,
Marie
Hey Marie,
I can talk more later I was walking out the door and just checked the board and wanted to respond. I am sorry if my post said that I grew up in Hialeah that is not what I meant. I was BORN in hialeah by the racetrack. My dad was a big gambler and spent most of my mom's money there... Shortly after I was born my mom and I moved to Dayton,Ohio and that is where I was raised... I went to a high school called Meadowdale though which is close to the name of the school you described going to.LOL Anyway I am 31 and I have been in the Tampa area now for about 10 almost 11 years since 1994...I have been to South Beach and Cocount Grove a couple times in the past but have not been to Hialeah since I was a baby. My birth certificate the one they give you in the hospital has a picture of it on it but I haven't seen it.. I know what you mean though anytime I say I was born in Hialeah, people are like where??? Then I say ok about 3 minutes from Miami and they are like oh okay now I know.... Well nice chating with you and I wish I would have been raised there it would have been better than Dayton,Ohio I am sure.. Talk to you soon,Rae
