my son is a user for at least 3 years, he is now a young adult, We have tried everything counceling, rehab.
We helped him get a good job and an apartment so he would have to have responsibilities, but he shortly lost his job and contines to use , he has pawned everything of value .. I dont want to let go, but I feel I can only pray for him and let God do the rest.
Hi, Pap, so sorry you're in this pain. I am too. It just doesn't feel right to let go, does it? But eventually we have to realize we've done all we can...and it sure sounds like you have. The only other avenue I would check out is any mental conditions such as bi-polar and depression as it seems to go hand in hand with addiction...you've probably been through that too. Not much we can do when they won't take their meds or follow their programs...but it hurts. I know. I will pray for you and your son...hope and prayers hope and prayers...after we've done all we can do...that's what we still have. good luck.

Sorry about your son's addiction. If you read post "I want my baby back", you see how parents will fight to save their kids. The longer meth addiction goes on the worse it gets, it's lethal, and there are many ex addicts out of prison or other, that cannot feel any pleasure, ever, because dopamine pleasure center of brain too damaged, and dopamine receptors don't grow back. You know you are dealing with a brain disease for which there has been no cure or effect treatment. However, now scientists have found the cause of addiction, and have a treatment that eliminates this cause (high dopamine) and it's cravings, it's Gvg. www.bnl.gov

I was watching a show last night, and It said that meth has the lowest recovery rate of all drugs. Only 6% of users stay clean! Also, it said that unprotected sex and meth go hand in hand!!! Scary thought!
Yes! Guest - My sister has AIDS and had a baby while having this disease (the child I am now raising). As long as she is using - she is NOT using protection - she admitted it to me. Now that is even scarier! A female user with AIDS and unprotected SEX! Her son just got done with his last blood test to confirm that he is AIDS free. Which he is! YEAH!!! But the Fact that you have to worry about your child having sexual encounters with someone like my sister and then getting pregnant... Not only should adoption be a concern - but the phycsical health of the newborn and 2 years of testing a baby for the worste disease - AIDS! All because of not thinking clearly on that one night stand?!
For all mothers and fathers give your kids condoms and STRESS to them how awful this is! When they use - they don't think about! Make them think about - give them condoms and keep talking to them!
