I am a researcher at Johns Hopkins University. Currently, we are recruiting people who have used crystal meth to particiapte in research studies. ALL INFORMATION IS CONFIDENTIAL. We compensate for study participation and all travel expenses are covered. Please contact me for more information (410-550-2588 or aduval1@jhmi.edu). The website listed here gives information and provides the consent forms for the MDMA studies we are currently running. The Meth study is similar to the 2 day outpatient and 5 day inpatient studies outlined in the consent forms.

Dear Researcher,
Good luck getting a response on this site! I have a sister who has a problem with crystal meth. I had posted an inquiry(Help! My sister is an abusive glass addict) hoping to get some answers. No one responded after days, and as a matter of fact, only a few people even looked at the question. Out of curiosity, I checked out a lot of the pleas for help from others. The same thing seemed to happen again and again.
I then posted a new question (Why are meth addicts not helpful?) wondering if it was the nature of this drug that caused the users to not bond with one another in their recovery, unlike the heroin addicts, who are very responsive and close to one another. I finally got a response. It was from a woman telling me that she didn't know anything about heroin, but the user must want to stop using. ???
I anticipate that you might not get a lot of takers in your offer, but there is quite an interesting comparison to be made in the study of heroin users v.s crystal meth users based on the message boards on this site alone. It is absolutely amazing. The frantic typing, spelling errors, shortness of the messages... if there ARE messages. The heroin group has people (I am one) who are genuinely close to each other, keep up with, and know one another. Posts are filled with information that is helpful, full of hope and encouragement.
Maybe future research...?

honeybun,
i'm sorry no one has responded to your post. but there is no need to get so angry. i have read your post and i didn't know what to say. many people tend to stay away from things they are not to sure about. as you can also see there aren't as many people on this board compared to the others. try asking your question on another board. you could also ask charmed 1 she is a user and maybe could be of some help to you. good luck

Thank You, RaeRae,
I didn't mean to sound angry in this post. I wasn't angry at all. I explained what did happen when I wrote for help, and I yes, I was at first a little taken aback at the lack of responses to the help I asked for. Not angry.
Then I realized that I had answered my own question when I wrote the researchers. Heroin is a different drug than meth, and a different type of person uses it. I am touching the tip of an iceberg, I'm sure. I am so intrigued.
There is a world of difference between personalities of different addicts of different drugs. It's kinda like in Rehab, you can look at people and pretty much guess by their physical appearance what their DOC is. Different drugs do different things to your body. A few weeks after rehab, after being clean, you can't tell what anyone did, all are alike. Just folks hurting. But now they pretty much all LOOK the same. See what I mean?
Check it out, it's not because there are fewer members on the meth board. The users are different. I am so intrigued, I want to compare all of the different users, maybe it will help me understand other people that use different drugs when I am active as a sponsor one day.
:) Gretchen
