Hello, all i am so sorry to tell you all this but, i had to go to the dentist and my mouth is really infected and he put me on antibiotics with some vics ES, it hurt so bad i had no choice bu afriend from the program is on his way over to take them from me and give me one every 6 hours as needed, so that maked me feel bad, but atleast i called someone to hold them, i have not taken notta one yet, waiting for him, so is this bad or what???
Dont eveyone jump in all at once, lol:):):))
Hey Jaz-
You did the right thing by letting your friend hold them for you. I know it sucks that we have to do such things (like we feel that we cant be trusted ) but we gotta do what we gotta do, right - but you have alot of support here, you know that. I'm always here for you, sweetie - you are such a good person, and BTW, if someone doesnt have something nice to say to you, just ignore them. I know that I'm a fine one to talk - if you've read some of my little "disputes" lately - but I try not to let anyone get to me.
We are here to help each other - thats what its all about, right. I'm proud of you for doing the right thing, girl. Keep up the good work!!!!
Love,
Marie

How long have you been off? Do you think this will be bad??? I don't know, but if I had some right now, I probably would be the happiest person in the world. THAT'S SAD. I am trying SOOOOOOOO hard not to think that way, but If I were put in that situation right now, I don't think I could or would call anyone to help.
You are doing the right thing. That's Great!

Just wanted to say Hi- I'm Marie - been here awhile - actually since the beginning of August - but my computer crashed and I had to re-register. I was taking 20-25 10mg percocets a day. I only got 90 or 120 at the most from my dr. The rest, spending alot of money, I bought off the streets, through my new- found "friends". I'm 42 years old, and if you knew me, you would never in the world think I was an "addict". I have 3 beautiful children and 1 granddaughter. I've relapsed a couple of times, but this time I think I've got it, even though I've only been clean less than a month.
Regarding my liver, yes, I was scared to death when they did bloodwork to see if I had any serious damage due to large quantities of acetaminiphine. Thank God, the test results showed "slightly elevated liver enzymes", but the dr. told me not to worry, that since I quit the pills and I do not drink, the will go back to normal.
I wanted to welcome you to the board. I wish you all the best on your path to recovery. If you need anything at all, you will get tons of support from this group here. They are all great, oldtimers and newcomers.
Love,
Marie
Hey, I just realized I posted this on Jasmine's thread - I know she wont mind:o)

Hi Jasmine,
I haven't been on here all day. Been busy around this house trying to get caught up on cleaning, laundry and I'm moving furniture around. So, I'm real busy. lol. Don't worry about taking the meds for the pain. I'm sure anybody would if they were in your shoes. You are doing the right thing by having somebody else hold on to them for you. Marie is right, you are a good person. So don't listen to any fools that want to tear you down. Have a great night.
Love,
Liz

This is an interesting topic that I don't hear to much about on this site. How do people that are addicted to pain medicine cope with "real" pain"? I have had 13 surgeries. My latest was 23 days ago. I haven't taken anything in 21 days (only had to work 3 days during this time) and still feel horrible. Now to boot, the pain (which presents physical symptoms) is getting worse again.
I can exercise, eat right, and do biofeedback until the cows come home, but the pain is still there. My condition is very rare. The docs don't understand it so they just shove meds at me. My next stop may be electroshock therapy. I am coming to the conclusion that you have to balance quality of life versus pain medicine side effects (physical dependence). Today I did not have to work, but if I did, I would have been in too much pain to go. Now, with pain medicine, I could have muddled through the day. I'm not looking for permission to use meds, but at some point, one needs to consider "quality of life". Thanks.
The first person that says, "Go see a doctor" gets penalized. I've been to so many pain management doctors it isn't funny.

Hi, Jasmine
That was a very responsible and mature thing to do getting your friend to hold on to the pills for you to avoid a problem. I am so proud of you!!!!!
Also, sometimes I think doctors get carried away with prescription pain relievers. I would try some extra strength advil or tylenol BEFORE you resort to the narcotic pain reliever. I've had some pretty bad dental pain in my lifetime and never used anything stronger than what I suggested. It can't hurt to try!
Susan :)

Just wanted to suggest that you ask your dentist for torredal next time for pain relief. It is effective and non-addictive. It works on a different part of the brain to relieve pain than moat pain killers and is the addictionologists prefered pain felief perscription. Glad you have someone reliable to ensure no misuse. My prayers are with you.
Junem-
Isnt torredol the same as Ultracetor Ultram? I've read on here that it IS addictive and alot worse to W/D from than vics or percs. I dont know - I thought it was the same. Anyway, I'm taking no chances - only ALOT of motrin. LOL
Have a good night.
Love,
Marie

Nope Marie, not the same thing.Similar names, different meds. Love, Kat
OK - thanks - but I'll still stick to motrin for now:o) Goodnight.
BTW- I talked to Trisha yesterday - she was down in FL to go on a cruise and got really sick (strep throat) poor thing - kinda ruined her vacation!! She was asking about the other site - you might want to email her - she's a sweetheart.

Dear Jasmine please don't beat yourself up,if you need them you need them. The best thing is you knew enough about yourself to do the smart thing.Me myself I am SOOOOO scared of dentist I'd rather pull my own teeth. All it takes is one bad dentist to messup and forget it "just call me GUMBY!!!!....Mollyjean
WAY TO GO! I can't say I would have done the same thing in your situation-by calling someone to take control of the vic's but I think it's great you do. That just goes to show how dedicated and determined you are to staying clean. Plus,if you need them and take them as prescribed then you should be just fine. Not to mention the dentist hardly ever gives out more than 20 @ at time, right? Sucks having dental pain. I had 2 back teeth extracted a few months ago and they put me on Lorcet 10mg those helped a lot. You'll be just fine..Don't worry about a relapse it won't happen.Rachel
Jasmine, that is GREAT!!! You did the right thing. I might even say that you are stronger than me, 'cause I don't know if I could've done it! But hey, who knows? I am so very proud of you! Love, Jessie
