Stacey And Gina

OH Yippee! Two people (and possibly Michelle) willing to do Lox's detox diet with me! I can't do it alone. I'll go search through the archives now and reprint the diet here. The folks I did the diet with last time have gone into hiding and I've been looking for new cohorts.

It's a little extreme as diets go, but it only lasts a week and honestly, my skin looked afterwards.

Okay, this is what you get to eat for seven days:

Breakfast
1 lemon (mix juice and dash of cayenne pepper in hot water)
5 Tbs Cottage Cheese
8 oz Orange Juice/Grapefruit Juice or more
1/2 lb. Fresh Fruit / Salad (no iceberg lettuce) (at least 1/2 lb)
1 c. Herb Tea

Snack
Any fresh vegetables, fruit, and juices

Dinner
2 c. Vegetable Broth
2-3 fresh cooked vegetables
Salad of fresh fruits
1 c. Herb Tea

12 glasses of water throughout day.

There are some fine points mentioned on this old thread:

http://addictionrecoveryguide.com/m...tox%20diet&st=0

Usually by this time, the number of takers drops by 70%. Who's in?
now i get it, gina - but i always referred to bob's wife as gi.

yeah, i work in the legal arena for the firm "dewey, cheatham, & howell" (say it quickly), and although family law is not my forte, i do know it takes a little more time than the span that you first started posting about your separation - especially when there are minor children involved.

speaking of minor children, i do hope you are not having child support issues while hashing this all out. just in case you do, here's a legal document that may come in handy for boosting one of the party's income in your complaint:

Talullah!

No thank goodness, custody and child support are not at issue in my divorce and for that I am profoundly grateful.

"Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe." LMAO, the Cartalk show on NPR has fake credits on sign off. My favorite is their single-mother support co-ordinator, "Erasmus B. Dragon."

Thanks for the job listing. Keep 'em coming. LOL

Love,
Audrey
Okay....I am in Gina! I have never done a detox cleanse/diet but have always wanted to. Especially a cleanse. I have heard really great things about cleansing your body of all the toxins that build up naturally.

However some have reported some pretty scary alien like things exiting their bodies! Yikes!

What about coffee???? Can I have coffee? Man that will be a tough one. you mean..... NO Grande, non fat, extra hot 185degree, 1 and 1/2 pump toffee nut latte with whip???
Kerri,

Now that you mention it, I haven't had coffee regularly since I did Lox's "Detoxifying FEAST." I used to have two latte mugs first thing in the morning, every morning for twenty years, and I've had maybe a dozen cups of coffee since then. It just doesn't taste good to me anymore and I've noticed that since I've stopped drinking it first thing, I don't get afternoon anxiety followed by a slump.

I'd also forgotten about the weird out-of-body experiences. Not that I had one, but I had at least one very cool night of lucid dreaming which was well worth the price of admission.

Think about it. I'm not ready to do this until we are well into spring and I am over the winter blahs (LOL, living as you do in Paradise, you've probably forgotten what those are. God, I envy you!)
I'll take fried rice, egg foo yung and egg rolls. I am so generic.
LMAO, Danny, You live in Chicago. All you'd have to do to detox is stop drinking city water.
Hi Gina!

Dreaming is one of the things I regained when I quit taking pain pills! What a treat!
Coffee....ummmmm, I am still working on nicotine...one thing at a time! And girl, the crawfish were wonderful in NO! I thought about you loving them...so good, aren't they?

Kee Kee: I had a really beautiful Mardi Gras. It did my soul good. The city is still in shambles, but there is so much heart in New Orleans...people down there have been finding beauty in crumbling buildings for many, many years! Send prayers!

There are many good things going on too! Music is alive and well in NO...and that is such an important part of the culture. Also, art. There were several openings in the Art District during carnival...and a lot of that area flooded, so those buildings are back up and going.

There is just a feeling, a very subtle feeling of loss there. Even with the magic of carnival...it isn't from folks feeling sorry for themselves...it is from folks feeling sorry for their neighbors. It is an empathetic sorrow. Does that make sense?

Anyway, it is good to see ya'll. I must get busy, obligations! blah!

Take care and as they say down on the Mississippi...Laissez les bon temp rouler! Peace!
That East Palo Alto Home Depot is amazing.....that place was AWFUL.

They even put a FOUR SEASONS THERE.

EPA used to be the murder capitol of the world when I was in High school. Then, you cross University Avenue, and you are in ESTATE HOMES of Palo Alto. There was a club there called the edge in Palo Alto that we loved.

My sister and I thought it was funny to drive through (we were the only white girls w/in miles) yelling "HUBBAS" out of her convertible. that was the slang for crack.

Not a smart move. They have since cleaned up that area, but it really was the most gunshot ridden area in the nation 15 years ago.

the four seasons is the biggest irony of all.
Omg, Ginanotbobswife,
not that horrible diet again! lol
Throw some cocoa krispies, ho ho's, and some fried chicken in there and maybe I'll join you. (notice I said maybe, lol)
Why are all the good foods unhealthy? sigh
xxxxxxxxxxxooooooooooooo
Katest,

A DIET is the LAST thing you need to be on, my darling. You're supposed to be eating every high-caloric food known to man.

Sarah, I thought about you on Mardi Gras and hoped that you'd post a picture of a great big plateau de fruits de mer. Lord, you've made me salivate. I think I may have to run by Whole Foods and get the fixings for a good crawfish etouffee.

Kerry, I didn't know you grew up in the Bay Area. When were you there, and where exactly did you live?
<yawn>

I'm not doing that diet Gina. The last time you guys did it, Lox disappeared never to be heard from again, and Vinny was talking about rainbow poop. I think I'll pass for the moment. LOL

I can't quit coffee, that is simply not possible. LOL

Michelle
Actually, I like just about anything except lima beans and beets.

When I was in withdrawl though, I ate nothing but fruits and veggies. I rarely eat meat now because I have a hard time digesting it. Hopefully, that is not forever. Once that is over, it's a Whopper, Frie and Chocolate shake for me....and a pizza for dessert. Make that two pizza's.

When I have a V-8 now, I am living it up..hehe (which by the way, is my absolute favorite drink)
Michelle, Well, I'm still here. LOL, One out of three ain't bad. I realized that I was inaccurate about only having had a dozen cups of coffee since the detox. I did savor a pound of excellent coffee that a board member thoughtfully sent me from Costa Rica before giving it up. I do enjoy really good coffee. I just don't go for it regularly anymore.

Danny, I know that you have a restricted diet because of the pancreatic problems, but shouldn't you have that checked (nag, nag) and when will you be well enough to celebrate with a Whopper?
I go on March 23rd, which I am NOT looking forward to. It actually sucks. Gina, I am so much better than I was even 7 months ago. Little relapse in December as you know but still, a lot better. I think a Whopper is on the menu for this summer. I know if I can eat one and have nothing happen, I will beok..
I grew up right between San Jose and San Fran. All of my family is still scattered there, from San Lorenzo down to Carmel.
My stepdad just sold our house and moved down to san jose; I grew up in a town called Newark.

I absolutely love San Fran and spent many happy times w/ my mom there. Talk about shoes. AND good chinese food!!!!! Now, all the little chinese places are gone and panda express is considered chinese.

oh, and the real mexican food. yum.

I left there for maui (my dad was a pilot out here) when I was in high school. I still consider it home, although after 17 years, this might be home..lol.

But everytime I go home and see that four seasons, I have to laugh. That area was just awful. Literally the murder capitol of the nation....lol.
I lived there from 1973 until around 1988.

danny, why don't you think vacation and i will buy you a whopper...lol. And some sashimi.

oh, and the best sushi EVER. Right out of the ocean.

speaking of which, I am off to go swimming. my girls have had way to much cartoon network for the day.
Gina.........i will do the detox also........

Danny.....i make egg rolls and fried rice all the time , especially for pot lucks...

i am very interested in doing this detox along with you all......
i think it will be very heathy for us.........

thumper
Oh God...not the THAT diet again...lmao. Good luck girls.
miss golightly ~

it is with extreme interested that i express in participating in this diet with you. however, somewhere i read in this thread that this was the "lox" diet (or at least i think i did?).

now the menu you are posting, i fail to see "lox" on the bill of fare. and what kind of "lox" would that be, daaahling? gravalox, nova, are they smoked? does one get to eat a bagel with cream cheese, onion, and capers while eating "lox" with this diet?

slobbering, salivating yours ~
